I know some of you could care less about two inner city schools...you'll even find things to knock...but this is awful this game will no longer be played...no matter the record big crowds were always there and former students came back.........sure it ain't two towns battling for a district title........but it is a great example of Texas High School Football

This is a growing trend in the major cities. Look at HISD, once strong programs such as Lee and Sam Houston no longer play football. Rumor has it that other schools are going to drop the program due to lack of interest and student participation. I can really see this hitting all major school districts unless the State gets it's act together on funding for the school districts. Since funding for the districts are down from the state and the decline of the home values in a number of areas, school districts are looking to cut everywhere they can. I was told by several AD's recently in Austin, if things dont change quickly, students will be charged a participation fee by the school districts to help cover the cost. Hopefully the booster clubs will step up.

I hate to hear about any school dropping the program. Football taught me some valuable life skills that I think every kid needs. Think about working within a group, handling stressful situations, and promoting a strong work ethic. Not to mention keeping kids out of trouble. Big school, little school, inner city, or little podunk town; I see nothing to make fun about.:( :(
