I think overall you have to give it to Matsui. He came through when the Yankees needed it the most.

I don't disagree with it, but Johnny Damon made a great case.

The little bit I saw in the 7th inning when he was batting they said he was 8-12 with 3 homers and like 8 RBI's or something. Those are pretty good numbers for 6 games.

Picking an MVP in this series had to be pretty tough. Matsui, Pettit, Damon, Jeter, and even A-Rod all could have gotten the award. Matsui had a heck of game last night so I am fine with him getting it

I think it should of been Mariano Rivera. Not only did he have three saves in the world series but he was dominate in doing that. The second game of the series he threw 39 pitches in two innings, he threw 41 last night to put away the phillies in 1 2/3 innings and in the games in philly i dont think he threw over 15 pitches. In my mind he is the best closing pitcher in the history of baseball. He had an era of 0.00 in the world series and in the postseason 0.74. just my opinion.

Now if the phillies won, My pick would of been Chase Utley 5 homeruns in the world series. Woah! BEAST.. He was the reason the phillies made it to game six and maybe Jayson Werth who is the most underated baseball player in the league.

+1

the only way i think someone else wins MVP for the Phillies if they were to win the series is if perhaps Cliff Lee made a relief appearance in Game 7 and pitched like he has, but even at that I dont think it would be right to make him MVP over Utley

as for Mariano I am withyou all the way on that...for a while there it had looked like he was losing his clutchness in years past, but he as cam back full force and is better than ever

considering that Matsui is one of the very few Yankees who I actually like, I was happy with the decision.

Hideki Matsui was a part time player - only 13 AB in 6 games.

He did produce well yesterday and deserved to be Game 6 MVP but I disagree with the Series MVP.:foul:

IMO For a slugger to win it he should be a full time player - DH is part time even more so in the Series.

If you are going to pick a part timer how about Rivera at least he helped win three games

Agreed. I barley even pay attention till the last month of the season. But I guess those guys have to do something to try and earn at least some of that overpay.
I can say the same for the NBA as well.
