Ok..here is the deal. I teach/coach at a school that hasnt had a whole lot of success in the past in football. Here is a little about the school...

We are located in Oak Cliff just north of Interstate 35 in Dallas. When I got here for the 2007-2008 school year, Adamson was tied for the states longest losing streak of 31 straight losses. That first year I was here we started out 5-0 and ended the year at 6-4. Last year our schedule got tougher and we ended the year 2-8.

NOW THIS YEAR
If we win this week we will be in the playoffs for the first time since 1981. Previous to 1981, Adamson's last playoff appearance was 1946.

Needless to say, these kids don't really understand just how big this game is because they have never been put in this position. Growing up for me it was a given that we would be in the playoffs....for these young men, its always been a given that they wouldn't be in the playoffs....

Whether we win this game or not (the team we are playing is pretty good) I just want these kids to know that just getting to this position, playing for a chance to get into the playoffs in Week 10, is huge. They hear it from us but im sure many think its just "coach speak".

I want them to think/know that people outside of Dallas understand just how big this game is. Few of yall now me and most probably dont but if you have any spare time at all could you send a message to them (via email to me) so I can hang these things up in the lockerroom. I want them to know that people outside of Adamson, outside of Dallas actually do care and are proud of them!

Updated just for you. You guys have won as many games from 2007-present as you did in the entire 10 seasons from 1997-2006. Good luck against Seagoville!

What district is Adamson in? Unless I missed it...I don't see Adamson on the above chart.:confused:

You don't see them on the chart because it's a list of all of their opponents they've played. They're in 12-4A currently.

Sent an email and a prayer. It's ok to pray for a good game, no injuries and a win. Also said a prayer of thanksgiving that God placed you in their lives to help them experience this. You're a blessing to them...bet you hadn't thought about that.

And nowhere else but the downlow...all come together for a great rally before a game.

I have not shown the emails to the kids yet but what I did yesterday was I went through a lot of the emails and picked out about 15 or so and on a single sheet of paper wrote who the email was from, where they lived and how far from dallas they lived. I did a single shet for each of the 15 and gave them to our seniors in our team meeting before practice yesterday. I had each one of them stand up with their piece of paper and read out loud the name and the city and how far away from dallas they were. I then told them that these are just a few people that have wished you luck on Fridays game and told them that it was not just people in Dallas cheering for you but people across the state. They had a look in their eye like I hadn't seen before.

That brought tears to my eyes. Your are such an inspiration Josh!!!
