View Full Version : District Race Overview and Playoff Projections after Week 9

The projected finishes are primarily based on who's beaten who so far head-to-head. In the case of districts where there are teams that don't have an obvious direct connection of wins and losses to rank them, I used the district power rating which is calculated using the same algorithm I used in my statewide 3A ratings the past 3 years

The number in parentheses is the power rating calculated solely on district games played. All power ratings combined for a district should add up to zero

The difference between power ratings for two teams can be extrapolated as a predicted margin of victory or loss based on prior district game results.

Week 9 overviews and projections are now completed. There are still 3 games I don't have results for yet (the Tornillo vs Clint game from Friday, and two games to be played today) and I'll add those numbers in when I get them. I doubt any of those games will make a huge impact on those respective districts though unless Sam Houston gets upset.

Great job WOS87. It will take a miracle for your District16 projection not to come true. It could, but it is not likely. Looking forward to round 2.

Nothing would change.

Nothing would change.

That would put Brookshire tied with Sweeny at 4-1 but Sweeny won the head-to-head

and would put Needville tied with Wharton at 3-2 with Needville winning the head-to-head

Clint 55
Tornillo 12
FINAL

Castleberry 41
Ranchview 34
FINAL

I've crunched those two games into the numbers above and as I predicted it didn't change anything

I'm only missing the SA Sam Houston vs Poteet game which is being played currently

In District 3 the tie breacker is 14 points. Just as they used last year with the 3 way tie for 1st.

Don't know what they will do with the two 16 point games and one 14 point game.

This Friday will break one of the 3 ties or create a new one for 1st.

I'm predicting a 3-way tie AFTER next week... Not sure what they'll do if the max is 14 points and all 3 games are 14 game margins of victory or more.

I believe they will go to the coin toss. Which ever two matches moves on.

3-3A is going with the coin flip if everything holds true

I agree with WOS87's projections in District 31AAA. Ingleside plays Robstown and I think they will win a close run. Ironically in this game is that most likely the winner will go to the playoffs and the loser stays home. That is because I think there is no way that Mathis will lose to Falfurrias and Sinton should win over West Oso but that one will be a struggle. Thank goodness Sinton is at home that night.

In Dist. 2 how did you determine Graham to be over Brownwood, in the final standings, assuming they both win this week?

If Brownwood and Graham both win there will be a 3-way tie for first.

Wylie beat Brownwood by 20
Brownwood beat Graham by 1
Graham beat Wylie by 3

It really depends on the district tiebreak method.

Going purely by point differential, Wylie comes out 1st, Graham 2nd and Brownwood 3rd (which is the generic method I use for tiebreaks until I find out a different method is being used)

Some districts take out the D1 team and seed the D2 teams in their head-to-head matchup, in which case Brownwood would be the D2 top seed

In district 27 with La Vernia and Luling, Wouldn't Lavernia go as the number one seed if they beat Luling this friday?

Luling beat Sam Houston by 13
Sam Houston beat La Vernia by 8

La Vernia would have to beat Luling by at least 11 points to win the point differential

I'm pretty sure Wimberley is in no matter what. If Wimberley loses and LH wins that would cause a 3-way tie for 2nd either between Wimberley, LH and Burnet or Wimberley, LH and Canyon Lake

In the case of Wimberley, LH and Burnet
Wimberley beat Burnet by 7
Burnet beat LH by 42
LH beat Wimberley by 2

Wimberley has a positive point differential meaning they would definitely be in

In the case of Wimberley, LH and Canyon Lake
Wimberley beat Canyon Lake by 23
Canyon Lake beat LH by 7
LH beat Wimberley by 2

Again Wimberley has a positive point differential meaning they would definitely be in

The Austin Statesman says that they've clinched already as well...

17 point cap on positive points and no minuses - any way you slice it, we've got +2 and any scenario I've seen or imagined keeps us out. :( Unless somebody maybe has an ineligible player  or forfeits. :p ;)

Win or stay home. :helpme:

Athens is in and will go Div. 1. Brownsboro is in and will go Div. 2.

If Palestine beats Westwood then Palestine is in. If Westwood beats Palestine and Brownsboro beats Athens then Westwood is in.

If Athens beats Brownsboro and Westwood has to win by 17 over Palestine to get in.

If Athens wins Athens is District Champion. If Brownsboro wins and Westwood wins Brownsboro is District Champion.

If Palestine wins and Brownsboro wins Palestine is District Champion.

If Athens wins it will be the first out right District Championship since 1992 in football.

That is how our district does it. D1 comes out and that gives Brownwood the #1 D2 spot since we beat Graham.
