I believe so as well. Just don't do like other teams and win the toss and defer. That always ends up with a long Kye Hildreth touchdown. The tradition started last year in Cameron.

I disagree. Navasota is the better team and nine times out of ten, they win. Cameron just made big plays and Navasota had too many turnovers. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Yoe squad, that's just how I see it. They played hard and capitalized on their opportunities.

the simple scenario for Cameron was to win by 14 then just beat Caldwell. That said, I'm not sure what winning by 9 or 10 would have done. So now from what i understand, Cameron has to beat Caldwell and Taylor has to beat Rockdale. Wish I could've seen this game but I was out w/ the kids at various functions for Halloween. Was absolutely shocked to see this result. Congrats to both teams, just read that Navasota only had 4 penalties and the Yoemen even had a TD called back? Very impressive guys. Sucks that Freeman is hurt. Also sad that that Madisonville loss which was likely considered a "gimmie"will hurt them like this.

So after this week's loss what happened to the Rattlers??? Were the conditions of the field not in their favor again (even though they were at home) or have the Yoe been practicing on artificial turf??

You say that likely w/ sarcasm but truth is, when we played teams w/ artificial turf, coaches would bus us to Floyd Casey Stadium to practice. IDK if they still do that but it was commonplace at one time.

No excuses. Cameron played their game plan and beat the Rattlers. The Rattlers turned the ball over too many times to win this game. The defense held Cameron to two touchdowns, which is on par for the season. The offense held, well, nobody in check. If I were the kind to make excuses and cry on the internet, I would be giving the coaches hell about failing to ever change the play calling to beat a constant LB blitz. Caldwell did it all night long, and Cameron did it all night long. End result............................................ ........

Congratulations Cameron on the big win, and I would wish you guys luck, but we need all the luck we can get going to Madisonville. They are one of four teams now battling for two playoff spots.

BTW, I am sending prayers Brandon Freeman's way. That kid is too good of a weapon for Cameron, but all that matters now is that he gets good medical attention and gets healthy again.

Well Navasota should have gotten on that band wagon and sent the boys to brule or somewhere when they have to play on real grass! Anyways, congrats to the Yoe on a huge upset tonight. Navasota, be prepared for them 'stangs of Madisonville...nothing would give them greater pleasure this season then to knock the Rattlers out of the playoff's.

navscanmaster
10-30-2009, 11:11 PM
BTW, Navasota is now 4-19 all time vs. the Yoe. Who's tomb did they rob is what I want to know?

10-30-2009, 11:23 PM
Man i hate to gloat, but I called it. Cameron came to play. I said the D would make the stops they needed..I'm gonna always ride with my boys from C-Town!!!They might not have won by the needed 14, but this was a huge win for Coach Rhoades and the Yoe program.

That being said, great game. In the end Navasota is the team headed to the playoffs, Cameron still has Caldwell to beat at home and they gotta get some help from Taylor. Congrats to the Rattlers on a hard fought game, turnovers seemed to kill them, but they didn't quit...Good luck in the playoffs.

OldBison75
10-30-2009, 11:35 PM
Congratulations to Cameron for playing a great game.

The only excuse for the way Navasota played tonight is poor execution and poor play calling. From the time you are in Junior High , you are taught that if the linebackers are gonna blitz all night, throw quick slants and attack the place the LB's have left. Navasota ran the same 10-15 yard patterns all night and with the tremendous pressure on Hildreth, nothing worked consistently. The Cameron defense was quick to the ball and impressed me more with thier defensive line play than anything else. They ar not that big and not that fast, but they never give up and play in thier rush lanes as good as any team I have seen this year.

My prayers go out to the injured player from Cameron. He was a force in this game and I hope that he recovers from his injury quickly.

Cameron came onto the Rattler stadium turf and won this game with guts and determination. They deserve all the credit in the world for winning when they had to. Good luck next week and I will agree with navscanmaster, Caldwell better not relax or they will get surprised by the ability of the Yoe.

If Cameron would have played like this the whole year we could have possibly been undefeated. We came out and played to game the way a true Yoemen plays a football game. I also think bringing the players up from JV has totally helped us out a lot as well. Just a really good effort from the Yoe tonight. If I were Navasota I would watch out for Madisonville next week. I saw the game in Caldwell and noticed the field really hurt you. Madisonvilles field isnt any better, they may be bringing out the fire truck this week if they dont get any rain.

I can't for the life of me figure out this district. If Navasota beats Madisonville and makes it to the playoffs, it will look like this.

Navasota beats Rockdale, Rockdale beats Cameron, Cameron beats Navasota, Navasota beats Madisonville, Madisonville beats Cameron. The only thing everybody has in common is that they trounced Taylor and Rudder, and lost (if Cameron loses) to Caldwell. IMO, after Caldwell won the DC, it is like the Rattlers settled into second place with two games left, while Cameron woke up and realized that they still had a shot. Meanwhile, Madisonville is just quietly playing good football when everybody was counting them out. They, after all, have played Caldwell closer than anyone else in district.

yeah i would not look over Madisonville. When they are playing at home I think they have a chance to win anytime. It really is a mud hole over there with all the construction.

not really sure at all but it is muddy. They actually have a small press box on the visitors size, but the atmoshpere over there is not very good. The announcer dosent sound real enthusiastic about calling the game.

Don't for a minute think that this game was overconfidence by the Rattlers. Yeah, Cameron stripped the ball for an early score and Navasota came back for a 21-7 lead at the half. But, Cameron played hard all night and the ball bounced the wrong way for the Rattlers all night. The key to the game was that when they needed to make a stop, the Yoe defense made the stop. When the offense needed a big play, they made the play. And don't forget, the winning points were on a field goal of about 35 yards right down the center under pressure. It was amazing that they hit the upright on an extra point earlier and nailed the field goal, but that is what happens to teams that are playing hard and with confidence.

The Rattlers have the talent to go deep in the playoffs, but the attitude was not there last night and the coaching was so conservative that it was scary for Rattler fans.

All the credit for this win is to the Yoe for stepping onto the field and taking it to the Rattlers all night.

I wouldn't count on someone to come back from this injury anytime soon. I did the same thing to my elbow (beginning of basketball season) and was basically out until baseball season. Good Luck to this kid and we hope he gets back soon.
