While doing research I came across this on the school district's website. Boerne ISD now has two High School's Boerne High (reopened after renovations) and the new Boerne Samuel V. Champion High.

TWO HIGH SCHOOLS IN BOERNE I.S.D.

For the first time in our district’s history, there will be two high schools within the boundaries of our fair district effective August 2009. Boerne ISD enters this new era with the immediate opening of Boerne – Samuel V. Champion High School in August 2008. Simultaneously, Boerne High School will be closed for renovations during the 2008/09 school year, and will re-open in August 2009. Therefore, Champion High serves as the sole high school (grades 10-12) during the 2008/09 school year and will serve as one of two high schools beginning the 2009/10 school year. Furthermore, it is noted that for the past 8 years, our 9th grade students have been educated at the two Boerne ISD Middle Schools. When both high schools are open in August 2009, ninth graders will henceforth be educated at those two high schools rather than at the middle school level. These actions fulfill plans accompanying the voter approved bond election held in 2004.

This new era generates many questions from those who have lived here for a long time and for those newly arrived who are not familiar with recent district history. Therefore, the following questions and answers are designed to provide additional information. The district has various other publications available on our website. Further information and links can be found under the Boerne High School (http://www.boerne-isd.net/page.cfm?p=18) portion of the Boerne ISD website.

During the 2007/08 school year, the superintendent and Facilities Director made 17 presentations on this topic to parents and staff. In addition, the superintendent has spoken and will continue to speak to various community organizations about these issues and refers to them in the various “state of the district presentations” offered throughout the year.
