District 25
Sealy (3-0) (8-0)
La Grange (2-1) (7-1)
Giddings (2-1) (7-1)
Smithville (1-2) (5-3)
Bellville (1-2) (5-3)
Columbus (0-3) (4-4)

Bellville @ Sealy
This week D25 has a big rivalry match in Austin County when Bellville (5-3) travels to Sealy to try and upset the #3 ranked Tigers (8-0). We think the Sealy offense will manage to put up enough points against the district's best defense to win this one by 2 tds.

La Grange @ Columbus
La Grange travels to Columbus to try to get back on track after a disappointing narrow loss to #8 Giddings. Can the Leps offense stay ahead of their leaky defense or will the Cards start running up the score playing the role of spoiler for D25. We think La Grange will have their backs up and ears pinned back and get after the Red Birds winning by 3 or 4 tds. [That is if the defense that only allowed 60 points in the first 6 games shows up and not the one that gave up 78 in the last two.]

Smithville @ Giddings
The Smithville Tigers visit the Giddings Buffaloes in what could be a trap game for the Buffs. Going in after the emotional come from behind victory over arch rival La Grange could the Buffs be flat? The Tigers can put up points fast and that could spell trouble if the Giddings defense doesn't come to play. We think the Buffs survive a scare and win in a close hard fought high scoring game by a td or so.

District 26
Sweeny (3-0) (6-2)
Brookshire Royal (3-0) (4-4)
Needville (2-1) (6-2)
Wharton (1-2) (1-6)
Stafford (0-3) (5-3)
West Columbia (0-3) (1-6)

Brookshire Royal @ Sweeny
This game could very well determine the District Championship. Both teams have tons of talent and could come down to the wire. Brookshire will be looking for their 1st District Title as a 3A; while Sweeny looks to be the Top Dog of the District 3 of the last 4 years. The game will be very close but we will go with experience in big games.
Prediction: Sweeny

Wharton @ West Columbia
The battle between the Tigers and Roughnecks will have added incentive for Wharton as they have an outside shot at a playoff spot. They will need a lot of help that probably won't happen but that's why they play the game. Turnovers will be a key in this game.
Prediction: West Columbia

Stafford @ Needville
Two ball control offenses meet in a game that should be finished quickly as the clock will continue to run. Needville's defense should be able to stop the Spartan attack and cause TO's. Needville should be able to find the end zone more often than Stafford and therefore will win easily.
Prediction: Needville

District 27
Luling (3-0) (4-4)
Somerset (2-1) (6-2)
Sam Houston (2-1) (6-2)
La Vernia (2-1) (5-3)
Poteet (0-3) (3-4)
Marion (0-3) (1-7)

Well, didn’t it get interesting in this district last week as SA Sam Houston pulled the upset over La Vernia. All of a sudden, the district standings are looking very compacted and any of the top four teams could be in, or out.

Somerset @ Luling
This is the big one this week in D27; loser is going to have a very tough time getting into the post season as both have tough games next week. These teams need this game and for all intents and purposes, this is a playoff game. The Luling Eagles are on a winning streak and they are playing good, inspired football. We can’t pick against them.
Luling by 10

La Vernia @ Marion
Marion is just the prescription for a team coming off a disheartening loss. La Vernia needs this game and they’ll get it by plenty.
LV by 40

Poteet @ Sam Houston
The Hurricanes blew into La Vernia last week and devastated the Bears. Poteet will offer little to no challenge to SH as they prepare for next week vs. Somerset.

District 28
Cuero (3-0) (8-0)
Edna (3-0) (6-1)
Palacios (1-2) (3-5)
Yoakum (1-2) (3-5)
Goliad (1-2) (1-7)
Gonzales (0-3) (1-7)

Cuero @ Gonzales
Cuero is a very good team and Gonzales is not. There has been a few rumblings out of Gobbler land that this Cuero squad is under achieving a bit, we don’t see that at all. They’re cruising through district play and will most likely peak at the right time since that is what Cuero does. This week Cuero continues their march to a district championship and the post-season.
Cuero by 40

Palacios @ Yoakum
Technically, Palacios still controls their own destiny, but not after this week as the Shark power running game is about to meet a much higher horsepower running attack. The Bulldogs have feasted all season on lesser opponents and they continue that trend with an easy win over the Sharks.
Yoakum by 25
.
Goliad @ Edna
Last week vs. Palacios, Edna scored 34 unanswered points in about 20 minutes, with three scores coming from 50+ yards. The Cowboys can strike quick, yet the strength of their team is defense, ranked 12th in 3A in points allowed. Goliad continues to move personnel around and change up their offense in an attempt to be more competitive and last week it worked on the opening drive vs. Cuero when the Tigers took a 7-0 lead, only to give up 42 unanswered points thereafter. We like the Cowboys.

District 29
Hondo (4-1) (6-2)
Pearsall (3-1) (7-1)
Bandera (3-1) (6-2)
Devine (2-2) (5-3)
Crystal City (1-4) (2-7)
Carrizo Springs (2-2) (3-5)
Lytle (0-4) (2-6)

Like D27, It got very interesting in D29 when Devine knocked off Hondo last week. All of a sudden the tide has turned for the Hondo Owls as they went from competing for the district championship to needing a win over Bandera just to make the playoffs. Devine holds the tie-breaker edge over Hondo due to their head to head victory, so two loses for the Owls and they're done.

Bandera @ Hondo
Bandera has been through a lot this season. They started the season state-ranked and many had them pegged as the DI representative for Region IV. Then, the injury bug hit them hard and it was all they could do to just stay alive. Now, after having their bye week come at just the right time, they are as healthy as they’ve been in weeks and that’s good because the biggest game of their year so far is this Friday vs. the Hondo Owls. For Hondo, it’s do or die after falling to Devine last week. They win and they’re in, lose and their out. This is going to be a good one.
Bandera by 3

Pearsall @ Carrizo Springs
Pearsall should have no problem this week, or next vs. Crystal City.
Pearsall by 27

Devine @ Lytle
Devine won when they had to vs. Hondo and they aren’t about to lose this game.
Devine by 30

District 31
Sinton (5-0) (8-0)
Ingleside (4-1) (7-1)
Mathis (4-1) (5-3)
Robstown (3-2) (4-4)
West Oso (2-3) (3-5)
Orange Grove (1-4) (2-6)
Aransas Pass (1-4) (1-7)
Falfurrias (0-5) (0-8)

Sinton (8-0; 5-0) @ Ingleside (7-1; 4-1) - Both offensives are explosive and we don't doubt each will be able to score. Will Ingleside's secondary be able defend the pass happy Pirates? They certainly have the speed to do it. Will the Pirates be able to defend Ingleside's big play ability? They've been giving up some big plays all season, but they've also shown they can shut down some offenses when the game is on the line. We predict a down to the wire finish with the Pirates winning by 3.

Robstown (4-4; 3-2) @ Falfurrias (0-8; 0-5) - Robstown will make quick work of the Jerseys. Robstown by at least 35.

Aransas Pass (1-7; 1-4) @ West Oso (3-5; 2-3) - If this were a basketball game we'd be more excited about this game. Oso wins @ home by 14.

Mathis (5-3; 4-1) @ Orange Grove (2-6; 1-4) - Usually a grudge match, OG is tough at home and would love nothing better than to "upset" Mathis, but the Pirates are just too strong this year. With both teams running the ball the game should be over in less than 2 hours. Pirates win by at least 14.

District 32
Lyford (5-0) (8-0)
Rio Hondo (4-1) (4-4)
Zapata (4-1) (4-4)
Raymondville (2-3) (4-3)
Hidalgo (2-3) (3-5)
La Feria (2-3) (3-5)
Port Isabel (1-4) (2-6)
Progresso (0-5) (2-6)

Well its starting to get sorted out in D32. Lyford has clinched a post season berth and Rio Hondo and Zapata have separated themselves from the pack for the two remaining berths.

Rio Hondo @ Lyford
Don’t look now but the Lyford Bulldogs have the 3rd ranked defense in all of 3A. You could make a strength of schedule argument, but regardless we are impressed. Rio Hondo couldn’t do a thing in pre-district but has come alive when it matters most. The winner of this game has the inside track on the district championship and top district seed in DII.
Lyford by 6

Zapata @ Progresso
The Zapata Hawks sure look like they will be the DI rep from D32. They should have little problem with Progresso.
Zapata by 22

Raymondville @ Port Isabel
We simply can’t get a read on these two teams. It’s harsh, but the truth is both have underachieved this year. We like the Bearkats in this one.

Hidalgo @ La Feria
