Ouch that could be painful for some districts..

I'm guessing it's 3 miles for boys and 2 miles for girls based on some results I found

UIL manual says
Distance
a. Girls’ cross country meet will be approximately two miles (3200 meters).
b. Boys’ cross country meet will be approximately three miles (5000 meters).
c. A race of six miles or longer shall not be considered a UIL cross country meet.

My son's Jr. High won the boys and girls 7th grade and boys and girls 8th grade district - Klein school district. Klein Oak, The Woodlands and Cedar Park are the three best 5A programs in the state. It's more of a suburban sport and I had never been into it before, but it is exciting as you get to know the kids and see the improvements they make. As far as 7th graders go, my son was a badass. God Bless.

Cuero's Buster Hansel has 3A's #1 cross country time over a 5000 meter course in 15:55 according to txrunning.com. Who would have ever thought Cuero would produce a distance runner? Buster is a Junior. He ran 4:29 in the mile at Regionals as a sophomore so we are expecting sub 4:20 from him this year.

BC CC units excel at Lufkin Invitational
Van Wade
The Orange Leader

LUFKIN — The Bridge City cross country squads placed very well at the Lufkin Cross Country Invitational last weekend.

Both squads competed very well against Class 5A and Class 4A competition along with some top-notch 3A programs.

The Cardinal boys placed third as a team in their division with 78 points, finishing just behind Humble Atascocita (39) and Lufkin (59). There were 11 teams in the field and 84 runners.

“The guys were able to finish ahead of region rival (Lufkin) Hudson, who has won the last three regional titles,” said Bridge City cross country coach Cody Knight. “And the girls were able to finish right behind Hudson, who is defending girls champs as well. All of the kids ran great and are extremely excited about the next two meets.”

Tim Cude covered the three-mile course in 16 minutes and 12 seconds to finish a solid second in the 5A/4A varsity boys division.

He was followed by teammates Kirby Shepherd (10th, 16:53); Aaron Lejuene (18th, 17:12); Sawyer Hogan (26th, 17:25); Armando Chavez (29th, 17:29); and Jose Chavez (46th, 18:30).

Matthew Wappler placed 33rd in the 3A-and-under division, running an 18:21 while Eric Chesson was 38th with a 18:35 in a field of 148 runners.

Jessica Franklin led the Lady Cardinals, running the two-mile course in 13:26 to place fifth among 60 runners in the 5A/4A division. She was followed by teammates May Nguyen (17th, 13:47); Ariel Chesson (27th, 14:08); Meagan Shockley (28th, 14:13); Alex Holland (31st, 14:19); Courtney Meaux (33rd, 14:31); and Lisa Huynh (50th, 15:31).

Barbers Hill (57) won the team title while the Lady Cards were a solid fourth with 94.

Adriane Cude was 82nd in the 3A-and-under division with a 16:13 and Rosemary Truong was 84th with a 16:13 as well.

Both Cardinal teams look to defend their District 21-3A titles Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Claiborne Park.

“We look forward to taking this Saturday off,” said Knight.

“The kids are looking forward to the district meet and then to see what they can do at Regionals.”

Wylie boys, girls win District 2-3A meet
¡á Four runners finish in the top five for Bulldogs

FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Wylie boys and girls cross country teams took first at the District 2-3A meet Monday at the Breckenridge Country Club, avenging the second place finishes each earned at last year's district meet.
Led by meet champion and two time state qualifier Reid Strong, the Bulldogs had four runners finish in the top five to best second-place Graham, while the girls had four top-10 finishers to edge second-place Breckenridge and third-place Snyder.
On both sides, this has been a very strong district and very competitive in all the races, Wylie coach David Wood said. I think that says a lot about all the work these kids have put in.
After Strong's meet-best performance, Wylie freshman Harrison Hall placed second, Kris Garcia took third and Josh Patterson finished fifth to round out a dominating boys effort.
And on the girls side, Allie Preston had Wylie's best finish, taking second behind Graham's Abbigail Gonzalez. Christian Light claimed sixth, Amanda Potts took eighth and Julia Patterson finished ninth to give the Lady Bulldogs an edge in the team race.
We knew it was going to be a tight race, and it was about 10 points separating each team, so it was pretty close, Wood said. We knew it was going to be competitive, and I think the girls knew what they had to do and did a good job executing.
With the team titles, the Wylie boys and girls each earned trips to the Region I-3A meet, which will be run Nov. 7 in Lubbock.
