I remember one graduation ceremony - maybe 1979 or 1980 - their class song was "Long Time" by Boston - it started playing over the loudspeaker system as the class started the procession - I think it was still playing after the entire class had walked the entire 100 yards down the football field - and up to their seats in the bleachers.. That is the longest song lol. It was funny - everyone was just standing there while the song continued to play.. the "old people" were freaking :D

I guess Free Bird has withstood the test of time though and is still heard frequently on the radio.

I do remember Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple was a nominee. Our band use to play it at the football games along with Purple Haze - That would be good for Abilene Wylie.
