Was thinking about doing something else on the top 25 thread and wound up with a top ten list. As far as I can tell, this is the most complete and up-to-date list anywhere. I couldn't find info on a few areas (deep East Texas, parts of West Texas), though, so no guarantees that this is the complete list.

If you know of anyone else who belongs in the top ten, please post them along with stats..

1. Brian Bell/China Spring
179-264 (67.8%) 2,586 25-4

2. Case McCoy/Graham
134-217 (61.8%) 2,310 26-6

3. Chance Wallace/Canton
183-290 (63.1%) 2,299 20-9

4. Josh Harrison/Sinton
134-216 (62.0%) 2,092 26-6

5. Stump Godfrey/Gilmer
145-201 (72.1%) 2,075 26-3

6. Steven Dorman/Somerset
129-231 (55.84%) 2,066 22-10

7. Josh Schneider/LaGrange
145-242 (59.9%) 2,034 24-5

8. Johnny Esparza/Lyford
138-283 (48.8%) 2,033 23-(???at least 9 INT, but we don't have the numbers for the Progreso game)

9. Chris Burge/Van Alstyne
102-166 (61.4%) 1,833 18-7

10. Cole DeBerry/Huffman-Hargrave
114-228 (50%) 1,825 21-9

Thanks for the list. I always enjoy reading the stuff you put together. One correction, though: the QB from Somerset is Steven Dorman, not Dorset.

My bad. It's too late to edit, but maybe one of the mods can get that fixed for us.

I love watching that kid play. He's a natural for the position. Probably the best you've had since Adrian, and those are probably the two best you've had for some time now. At least as far back as I can remember.

Who is he and what are his stats? The only major player I knew of that I missed was Silsbee's Jeremy Johnson... who may or may not have the passing yardage. Did I miss someone else?

What makes you believe this is true? I have no dog in the fight, but if the stats don't show up in the top 10, then what makes him the best? What schools are looking at him?

dawg4life

he lacks stats because he was injured for most games. He committed to UTSA and is expected to start his true freshman year or redshirt freshman year. Its a shame because he threw up amazing stats last year with most skill players coming back minus cole hicks.

SintonFan_inAustin

Lyford Johnny Esparza had great numbers last year and this year i saw he was around 1600 yds passing with 2 games not having any info on stats so he might be near or above 2000 yds passing.

I think you answered your own question. Look at his numbers against the only two teams they have played all year with winning records. 1 touchdown against Mexia's starters. no touchdowns against West. Both losses by the way! His dad got them beat against West. It was a muddy field. CS had the lead late. He kept throwing. Even ran some trick plays. Running back was having a good night running the ball, but his last name is not "Bell". I think his dad's attempt to inflate his passing numbers cost them the game. He feasts on very bad teams. He did the same thing with his brother. Yes they are stat pumpers!!!

Cole Hubble is being recruited by UTSA.

Tyler Arndt is being recruited by Florida, Houston, LSU, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Rice, TCU, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt according to Rivals.com and other sources. I think that speaks for itself. He may not even play football. Baseball is still in the running.

:iagree: I've seen both Hubble and Arndt in action, and Arndt is better IMO. I agree that Hubble is very talented, but the way Arndt carries himself on the field and his ability to make quick decisions and get the ball where it needs to be is very impressive.

I think Brian Hull of Ingleside is a s good of any of these. All of the QB's in the top ten in yardage have around 200 attempts besides maybe 1. Hull has only thrown 113 times and has completed 71 (62.8 %) for 1,504 yards (21.18 per completion) but what is even more impressive is that he has 15 TD'S against only 2 INT. He has also not thrown much in 4th quarters as Ingleside is blowing most teams out by then and run the ball.

Best place I've come across is MaxPreps, but not all their stats are up-to-date and they're missing quite a few kids. These were taken from MaxPreps and most of the state's major newspapers. Some stats, however, are incomplete.

Did you see the west game. CS got the lead because of Brian running and throwing. CS wa up 17-7...west scores 17-14....CS went three and out with one pass play....West gets ball and scores 17-21....Brian Bell throws a 68 yad bomb to get ball to 13 with 3 seconds....CS runs a trick play at buzzer and did not execute....
16-21 200+yards against West with 1 rushing TD

over 60 % 250+yds against Mexia 2 passing TD

Bad games?????

Say what you want...the kid is very good!!! I'm not going to say who is the best in state, but Bell belongs with the best of them.

It is a shame not all coaches report stats and their is alot of errors in many of these newspapers stats. I know the Burnet QB has some good numbers too. Also as someone mention some coaches like to leave players in longer than others as well as some teams may have also played better opponets.

I think it is safe to say all these players that have been mentioned are some prety darn good QB's and I am sure there are others out there as well.

Yes. I was at the game. I wanted to see Bell play. He is not a bad quarterback, but his stats are very inflated! I did some research on his numbers before I made that post. I listened to the game when they played Mexia. He had one td before halftime on a scrambling hailmary toss up. Mexia got up 41-7. They pulled their starters. Bell stayed in the game, kept throwing against second and third teamers. Against West you said he threw a 68 yarder. Yes he did. The defender fell down and he under threw the ball and the kid was run down from behind. If he gets the ball farther down the field they win. That means he had almost 130 yards up to then. Those are some great passing numbers. The little quarterback from West had a much better game than he did that night.Led his team to two late td's for the win. All I am saying is his dad has pumped his numbers against some really bad teams. I'll tell you what. Let's see what his numbers are against Glen Rose. I think they have a very good defense. Then we can discuss that. I have a friend from CS. he is the one who told me he thought Cs would have won the game if they would have stayed with the running game, and I thought so too!

stats have been edited.. as per BDR ;)

I'd like to add that while Cuero's QB's yardage isn't 2,000 (we've got a RB who's put up 1270 yards to date) I'd like to mention that
Tyler Arndt has a 63.4% completion average
he is 83 of 131 for 2 INT and 18 TD

Just had to throw that in there :)

Tyler Arndt is the best QB in the state bar none. He has been the best QB for the last 2 years. He was top 3 his Soph year when we played him in the play offs.

That shot at Sean Bell was a crock. Sean was a great leader. He proved that when he went to Baylor and played his but off and did a lot of great things. His passion has gone into being a coach and I hope that China Spring's next coach is Sean.

Brian is a good QB. He has his down side but overall he is a solid young man. He does come out of games early (1st game of the season he played for 2 and a half quarters and threw for over 450 yards) and he typically gets pulled in the 4th.

But all that said, Tyler is the best QB in 3A.

like 44 said, that was the only picks of the year. Also, he was only a soph. He will be missed after this year. Tyler is the ultimate leader. He never complains about anything. He's fine only passing 125-175 yds. a game when everybody knows he could go for about 400 a game like all the other QB's in the state.
