Sorry, but I'm just not buying Jasper lower than WOS. Jasper lost to the top 2 teams in the region, beat WOS, AND beat the other team that beat WOS.

jasper only have to win one of the two remaining games to at least get the third spot. they should win both. then we will have a rematch between two D1s gilmer & jasper., but if they dont, then big red have to come on in.

1. Gilmer - They are #1 in the State and have not met a match yet, even against another #1.
2. Carthage - They are #2 in the State and although having some close games early on, they are still the defending champs and have some solid wins.
3. Caldwell - They have rebounded from a close week zero to display a dominant defense with a ball control offense that is money in short yardage. They have also beaten two teams that have been in the AP top ten this year.
4. Navasota - Before and after running into Caldwell, Navasota has been an unstoppable offensive team. Their arguably most improved defense is what gives them deep playoff potential.
5. Jasper - Strong and back from a down year, the Bulldogs have knocked off WOS and Silsbee, both teams who are leading their district and have big hopes from Texas football fans. Their two losses, to the #1 and #2 teams in the state were decided later in the game after close first halves.
6. Cleveland - Their version of the Slot-T, like Caldwell's, is great at keeping the opponents offense idle. The consistency of their defense and ability to limit mistakes are key issues heading to the playoffs.
7. West Orange-Stark - Tremendous athletes, tremendously successful program. We don't know what to expect from this team, but still nobody wants to look up at the schedule and see WOS next week.
8. Coldspring - Signs point to good things happening with this team, and we will know a whole lot more about them after their date with Cleveland this Friday. They are no strangers to deep playoff runs.
9. Rockdale - Their only two losses have been to highly ranked teams in district. Their offense is inconsistent, but their defense has given them a chance all year long. Recent injuries may hurt them if nobody steps up to fill some big holes.
10. Palestine/Silsbee/Center/Brownsboro
Palestine has had some close losses, one to Navasota, and two to traditional 4A powers. They have also had some big wins.
Silsbee is ahead of WOS in 21-3A's race, and with superman JJ at QB, anything is possible after this team grew up with a rough predistrict schedule.
Center is still under the radar, despite some big wins and close losses. You can't keep thinking this team is only getting lucky week after week.
Brownsboro was undefeated and virtually untested, until they ran into Palestine last week. Will they win out and make some noise?

agreed with all except jasper, can't figure them out.....technically your argument is correct on the two losses but with lots of teams putting 60+ points on diboll, they squeaked a win.....i couldn't agree more that they SHOULD be the team that has only lost to the top two teams in the state, they just have unanswered questions with the other games.....if they lose one of the two last games against teams substantially below gilmer and carthage, what should happen then to their ranking? do we believe the losses or the wins?

A Rusk loss, they are not top ten anymore.
A Center loss, well depends. Center moves up a few spots, because we know they are for real. But depending on how bad the loss is, Jasper would either be 9 or 10, or totally out.

I think they beat both teams to win out. Center will be tough, but I have faith in the Bulldogs.

agreed.....

one thing is for sure, if they do lose one of the last ones, 21 3-a will be the strongest district in the state with as many 3 loss teams....

Good comments but I have to disagree with putting Cleveland ahead of WO-S. WO-S beat the team that gave Cleveland their one loss 28-14 (4A LC-M). Switch Coldspring and Cleveland in your rankings and I'd be 99% in agreement with you.

that went right past me.....yes, until either cleveland or us beats wo-s, i think that mystique blinds both teams.....should be wo-s, then a pick em with us and cleveland until we play....
