Just finished putting this together... It had previously only gone back to 1980. 2A was the equivalent of 3A prior to 1980 so the 2A State Champs are listed from 1951-1979.

There are quite a few record-setting seasons in the tables below.

A few useless but interesting stats... It's pretty rare that a program can tout having beaten an eventual State Champion since generally State Champions don't lose many games. Here's the list of programs that have beaten one of the champs listed above. Less than a handful have done it more than once:

From 1951-2005 no team had done it more than once and then in 2006 three different programs beat their 2nd eventual 3A State Champ including Wimberley, who won over BOTH eventual State Champs in that one single season.

So in 2006, Wimberley beat BOTH of the State Champs in the reg season? Wow.

They won state in 05, but how'd they do in 06?

They got upset by Hondo 35-42 in the Quarterfinals a week after soundly winning over Cuero

Yes, I remember that game all too well... Painfully! WOS was very good that year, too.

I saw them twice. They beat WC 62-7 in area, and then I saw them beat y'all 2 weeks later by 20 or so.

Just an incredible team.

They were very good. One of those teams that come along every now and then that are just unstoppable. Of course, we run head long into them...
