UT had great success in all of it's sports programs this year even though they didn't win a national championship. The record is outstanding. Austin is a great progressive growing city and UT has an outstanding sports program in all sports. During the past 2002 -03 year they had outstanding success.
In football Texas won 11 games including the cotton bowl and were ranked no. 6 nationally at the end.
U.T. made the final 4 in Men's and Women's basketball, softball, and baseball. The Women's track tean and the men's swimming and diving team were runner ups this year nationally. In everyone of these cases only the eventually national champion was able to stop the Longhorns and Lady Longhorns and the softball and women's basketball teams were so close and Texas gave Rice a scare in the second game in baseball.
The Men's track team made the top 10 nationally. The Women's swimming and diving team made the top 10 nationally. The Men's tennis team made final 8 in NCAA tournaments. Both the men's and women's golf team made the top ten. The UT rowing team ranked no. 12 nationally at the end. The soccer, volleyball and women's golf team all made the playoffs.
Truly an outstanding year. Texas may be ranked no. 1 overall in sports or very close to it. It appears that this has helped their recruiting because they seem to have got some outstanding players coming to UT.
