I'll give the UO players credit as well, but the schemes being ran by OU are perfect... Davis needs to come up with some crap... honestly, I'm not one of those guys caught up in the wildcat etc... hype, but the wildhorn may be something they can try... sooners are dialed in...

As bad as I hate to say it. OU just got screwed. That was not a muff. He has position of the ball, then fumbled it on the hit. UT can pick up and advance a fumble, which they did, then fumbled the ball out of the endzone. Should be OU ball on the 20. Like I said, I hate to say it, but OU got screwed.

here's my deal... we were never given a good review angle on the UT fumble, it was never clear (to me anyway) whether or not the ball traveled into the endzone or just went out of bounds at say, the half yard line, which makes it 1st and goal inside 1...

The philosophy on possession is the player has to demonstrate firm grasp and control and make a "football related move" He has not opportunity to make such a move so the correct ruling was NO possession, i.e. it was a muff, not a fumble. The side judge appraently did not realize that but someone else on the crew did as dod the replay crew.

It shows you "possession" because what YOU would see as "possession" is based on your own experience and training. Those who are charged with overseeing the game have a different definition of possession though based on their experience, training, and guidance given.

Two things will have to happen for Texas to win this game.
1. They have to get some running game going.
2. Colt has got to step up and live up to the hype. He has yet to live up to the hype this season, and looks his worst today. I know his O line isnt helping him much though, but he has to somehow find a way to make plays. So far this season, and especially today, I think his stock has taken a nose dive. As much as I like Colt, he's really played a lot of sorry football this season.

Yeah maybe, but beating your rival by only 3, when their having to play their backup QB (who couldnt carry the starters jock), barely even qualifies as a W. I think the voters will def take that into consideration.

are you kidding? Jones is a damn good qb... is he as experienced as Bradford? No, but he's good... the QB was not the problem today for OU, the clock was... The receivers were covered pretty well for the most part... they're also not as good as they were last year so there was really nothing Bradford could have done better except maybe not throwing that last pick... I thought the first pick was just an example of great athleticism, in most cases that ball does what it's intended to do, get the hell out of bounds...

I do think you're right though, the voters will probably take that into consideration...

but using the comment "but beating your rival by only 3" as an example of failure is comical... isn't that the epitome of a rivalry game?

You're a little too much gloom and doom, sir... I'm not overly excited about how they won, but hell, they won and I'm overly excited about that...

I gotta celebrate, eat some chicken-fried lettuce and stop worrying... my team just beat lOUsy in one of the biggest games in college football... if it wasn't supposed to be a good, close game, would college game day have been there?

Stick to the more important, meaningful things in life, STANG RED... like shnydr sucking

As I mentioned on another thread...

Yes, Bradford was out. So was Newton and McGee for the Horns. It balances out.

Other comments...

1.) Bradford's choice to stay in school one more year might be the right thing to do, but it is gonna cost him a lot of money.

2.) Jordan Shipley is a great receiver that OU clearly respected. But his blocking is B-A-D.

3.) Is Colt tough? Yes. Should the Horns Oline practice harder? Absolutely.

4.) Right Tackel Hix is a beast of a man.

5.) Florida and Alabama also played close games yesterday. Hope we hear some more about how they "barely" beat teams. ;) Let's face it... this year there will not be one or two dominant teams... it will be a dogfight all year long to see who plays for a ring. I like that.

another thing that must be taken into consideration is with McGee and Newton being out, how did it affect McCoy's game, if you put those two back in at runningback, OU has to be a little more concerned with the running game and that allows better opportunities for Colt and the passing game

Agreed. and honestly since its at kyle, they will look like a top 10 team.

Im a die-hard aggie. This season can ONLY be saved if we finish 4-2 with a win against UT. The only game iv have really written off is OU. Against tceh, they have the adv but maybe we can win. We SHOULD beat Baylor (without griffin), Iowa State and Colorado.

And if we lose 2 of those last 3, of those AND we dont beat UT....Sherman is DEFINITELY gone

Wrong. They were never the same school. A&M was intended to be branch of UT when it was first brought up in Texas' congress but "although T.A.M.C. was originally envisioned and annotated in Texas law as a part of the University of Texas System, Texas A.M.C. had a separate Board of Directors from the University of Texas from the first day of classes and was never enveloped into the University of Texas system."

And these lyrics were changed LONG after the schools were even thought about being together.

Okay, being serious here, correct me if I'm wrong....

--A&M created as branch of the University of Texas in 1876. UT, however, never given any authority of A&M.

--Aggie War Hymn written in 1918 by a member of the class of 1920, and amended with a little used verse in 1938 (the verse was originally written because students said the song focused too much on the 'Horns)? Not sure on this at all so please amend anything on here. Got it from here: http://traditions.tamu.edu/?q=node/15

--In 1948, the relationship between schools officially ended as A&M became a flagship school of its own University System.

A&M needs to make a name for itself, not by trying to down everything UT does, but instead by just beating the hell outta everyone and everything in it's path and not just being ready to go 1 game out the whole season.

A&M needs to make a name for itself, not by trying to down everything UT does, but instead by just beating the hell outta everyone and everything in it's path and not just being ready to go 1 game out the whole season.

Yeah, I realize all these schools have the whole "OU sucks" or whatever... great.

I'm not against "Saw em off" in general..... I'm just against having a case of penis envy ALL YEAR EVERY YEAR.

Have some dang pride and quit trying to be better than Texas. It gets annoying fast and I'm not even a Texas fan.

You, sir, get "IT".

However, that never went through and A&M was established before UT as Texas Agriculture and Mechanical College, hence the reason why Aggies like to claim we were first.

When in essence it's true, and false.

Of coarse texas does no wrong. but when ever somone gives the horns down sign or is called tu the cry like little girls...and you wonder why they are called tea sippers

Because aTm and Texas are rivals from back when travel for athletic competition was limited, so they played each other more times than any other. It makes sense that both schools mentioned each other in their songs, because when they were written that rivalry was pretty much all the other knew. Texas mentioned it in a line, A&M mentioned it in a verse. When A&M tried to make the song more generic, the fans didn't take it. Texas never tried to change anything on theirs, but they do ad-lib certain parts at times for the school we are playing football at the time.

"8:30 and OU Still Sucks" is the same thing as "Saw'em Off", which you don't hear many people complain about. Notice how Texas calls the school by its common nomenclature though (OU). There's no UO, because it looks and sounds dumb. Also, nothing like M&A for same reason. Only Aggies say 'tu'.

'Tea Sipper' is the same thing as 'Aggy' or 'Faggie'. They're all stupid. Be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Yeah... UT has one line about A&M. Kindy goofy, but then again, its not 95% of the song.

Texas Fight, Texas Fight,
And it's goodbye to A&M.
Texas Fight, Texas Fight,
And we'll put over one more win.
Texas Fight, Texas Fight,
For it's Texas that we love best.
Give 'em Hell, Give 'em Hell, Go Horns Go,
And it's good-bye to all the rest!

Yea Orange! Yea White!
Yea Longhorns! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Texas Fight! Texas Fight,
Yea Texas Fight!
Texas Fight! Texas Fight,
Yea Texas Fight!

The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
All the livelong day.
The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
You cannot get away.
Texas Fight, Texas Fight,
For it's Texas that we love best.
Hail, Hail, The gang's all here,
And it's good-bye to all the rest!

I have Aggie friends that completely beat me down with their hatred for UT. "t. u.", "Teasips", "Saw 'em Off", "horns down", "I love A&M and whoever plays t. u."...

I just want to grab them and say "Guys, where is YOUR school spirit? You love to tell me about the school you hate. Why don't you cheer for YOUR school?"

What a beat down.

Yeah, it's weird. UT was created by the legislature first. Then aTm was created as a branch. Construction for aTm was completed first and classes started in 1876. Construction at UT was not completed until 1883.

Here you go.
History and usage
Hunnicutt wrote "Texas Fight" in response to the song used by their long time rivals, Texas A&M University. One of the Aggie songs then was Farmers Fight, which consisted of the words "Farmers Fight" sung to Taps, a song played at many military funerals. Impressed by the song, Hunnicutt figured he would write "Texas Fight" also sung to Taps, but making the song more march-like and having "Texas" throughout instead of "Farmers."[1] In a letter written in 1952 by Colonel Hunnicutt, he says "I wrote 'Texas Fight'... in an attempt to counteract the songs and yells of the Texas Aggies, which were not too complimentary to our Student Body and some of which tended to ridicule 'The Eyes of Texas'."[4]

The words of the song as finally adopted were written by "Blondie" Pharr, director of the Longhorn Band from 1917 to 1937. "Texas Fight" is played following touchdowns and extra points at University of Texas (UT) football games, other Longhorn sports events, as well as on other occasions of celebration.[1][3]

The repeated strain contains portions of "The Eyes of Texas," the school's alma mater. This modification was made in the summer of 1967 at the suggestion of Charles "Buster" Griffith, a member of the trumpet section, and was premiered - unannounced - at the first football game that fall, after which it became tradition. [1] The mention of "A&M" is a reference to UT's major in-state rival, Texas A&M University.

I had several cousins that were like that...always bashing UT whenever they got the chance. It's just such an inferiority complex thing.

The same thing exisits here in Houston in regards to the Dallas Cowboys...there are folks here (and some of them are on the radio) that would rather see the Cowboys lose than the Texans win. I don't get that at all...

I'm sure Texas would like to take the name "A&M" out of the fight song. That line meant something back when aggies were competitve and it was a true rivalry. It's somewhat embarassing to mention A&M in the fight song now. Now they do sneak up and the Horns every now and then, but these two teams have been on different levels for the past several years.

Hey, in all fairness, a&m does compete very well in other sports (mainly women's sports). :inlove:

Extreme hatred in the real world usually translates to DANGEROUS. Extreme hatred in college football usually translates to blindness to reality, childish actions, and stupid comments. And YES, I'm fully aware it goes both ways. One way or another, it's going to stop on here.

I believe I have been called out. And yes I do expect respect gosh darn it!!! ;)

Dr. Dre, over half our team is from Texas. OU is as much a part of Texas football as any team in Texas.

"Give 'em hell. Give 'em hell. Go Horns go!" is NOT what I heard on Saturday. Deviation from lyrics is illegal.

I personally know t.u. fans who chastise each other when one says the time, and no body replies "and OU still sucks" I was at the A&M game in 2007 at kyle and the announcer said the time and a longhorn 2 rows in front of me said "and OU still sucks!"

isn't your argument kind of irrelevant here? no name was changed and did you hear every longhorn by you do it? probably not, and what was the announcer doing saying the time? I've never heard an announcer say that

It's so hard to stay in check though:D

I personally love what Move The Chains has been saying. That's the sole reason why I did not go to A&M. I attended an Aggieland day and then was accepted, but just couldn't get over the entire "cult" feeling and hatred for UT that Aggies have. It's a phenomenal institution for the maths and sciences but still, it gets kind of annoying seeing 50,000+ people devoted to always degrading another school.

You must be half retarded (or an aggie:D) if you read both schools fight songs and don't notice a bit of a difference in the two. One schools make ONE jab towards the other while the latter schools fight song is overran with sentences defaming the other.
