I BELIEVE it was 14-8 Sweeny. WC fought hard and was in scoring position several times w/ at LEAST 1 maybe even two TD passes dropped in the endzone. Roughnecks really put up a good fight tonight against Sweeny but just came up a little short.

Thanks for the updates MTCs!

My hats off to the Columbia Roughnecks. One heck of a game and one heck of a team.

i wasn't there, but the play by play texts i was getting made it feel like i was.

columbia had 3 drives late in the game where they got the ball deep in sweeny territory and couldn't convert, including the final drive that ended with an interception on like 4th and goal from around the 5 or so.

W.C. had the ball for the majority of the game.

It was a tale of 2 teams for Columbia. The D was getting rail roaded in the first half, but I'd be surprised if Sweeny had more than 30 or 40 yds of offense in the 2nd half. As you can see, Columbia had 60 or so more yards of offense for the game.

The D played lights out in the 2nd half, giving the offense 3 opportunities to tie or take the lead in the 4th qt.

The Columbia offense picked it up a bit in the 2nd half but turned the ball over on downs 3 times inside the Sweeny 10 yd line in the 4th qt. MEGA props to the Sweeny D for coming up huge when it mattered most.

The story of those 3 drives.

1st time in redzone in 4th qt: After the D forces an INT, on 4th and 8 at the Sweeny 16 yd line, WC's QB runs and gets 7 yds down to the Sweeny 9. Turnover.

2nd time in the red zone in 4th qt: After our D forces a 3 and out, we get down to 1st and goal from the 4. False start. 1st and goal from the 9. Got down to 4th and goal from the 5. Pass to the corner of the endzone is dropped. (The D hit him when the ball got there, but definitely catchable)

3rd time in the red zone in the 4th qt: After getting 1 first down, Sweeny is forced to punt. Columbia drives down and gets 1st and 10 at the Sweeny 11 yd line. 57 seconds left. False start. 1st and 15 from the 16 yd line. Colubia gets down to 4th and 8 at the 9 yd line with 15 seconds left. Timeout. We run a pass play and Sweeny brings the house. Our QB throws the pass to avoid the sack and it gets picked off.

Ball game.

Columbia had 3 chances to go ahead inside the 10 yd line, but couldn't finish. Sweeny D was great for them in that stretch.

Was a GREAT ball game!

I think the Necks grew up a bit tonight.

And SHAME on #21 for Sweeny. He took a cheap shot on our QB and laid him out. That nearly led to a big fight, but good job to #5 for pulling our QB back.

That sparked our team a bit and helped us make a game out of it.

I'm very proud of the way those boys fought tonight. Even while coming up short, that was the most impressive I've seen us play in a long time (ignoring the first half). The D in the second half had a few glitches, but played pretty much lights out.

Congrats to the Bulldogs on the W! Good luck the rest of the way.

If Columbia can put together 4 qts of what they did about half way thru the 3rd qt and on.... they're gonna be pretty dang good.

Let's carry the positives from this game on to next week and let's BTHO outta BR!

  to BOTH teams in a VERY intense game! Definitely lived up to what it's supposed to be.

good to both teams, i like in the third quarter when the left tackle bulldozed his own quarterback on a bootleg, thanks to him or it woulda been a big gain if he woulda took off

I did see that but from the looks of it the quarterback was going to throw the ball im, just glad he held on to it
