Something happened today that makes me very grateful to be alive and also outlines once again how precious and fragile life is...
I was driving to a doctor's appointment near downtown Houston this morning when the car a couple of cars ahead of me slowed and veered off to the shoulder. It appeared that the car had broken down and the lady driving it was getting it out of the way of the heavy traffic.
On the way back about 30-45 minutes later I didn't really pay much attention but did notice that traffic on that side of the freeway was almost at a standstill. A few miles futher on I noticed a convoy of emergency vehicles headed south with sirens wailing.
Just a few minutes ago I read a story on the KHOU website that stated that a woman was killed on that freeway this morning when her stalled vehicle was hit from behind by a truck.
In my heart, I know that was the same lady that I saw pulling off onto the shoulder.
Prayers to her family....she probably had no idea what happened to her.
