Yeah, NBC has been lobbying to get it made to guarantee Notre Dame gets into a bowl game every year. It has a 2 person Board of Directors with Lou Holtz as Head Chairman and Charlie Weiss at Secretary.

Way too many Bowls already. It's already to the point where anything less than a BCS bowl is a letdown for many teams...adding more bowls and making more teams bowl eligible (even some with 50/50 records) just waters down what should be a reward. I guess there is money in having a bowl game..even if it is only the students/alumni of each school that cares about it.

Just move the national title game to Cowboys Stadium. Best venue in the country.

They need to do away with the BCS and start a playoff system. Every other level of football has a playoff system except for D1 football. It would give a more accurate National Champion and be more fun to watch.
