I'm sure the M&G is going fine. I've heard no shots. What can you say? Wylie got it rolling and did not stop. It's the mark of a great team that can smell the blood and go for it. We have a second half to play.

The games between Bwood and us have been really great games. We met them the first game the two years they were in 4a. They were close games and we had a chance to win both of them. The game last year here in Bulldog Stadium was a grat game that we pulled out in the end. I think the injury bug has killed Bwood this year and that is why the game was so lopsided.

I will take the win but I have no doubt it woulod have been closer if Bwood would have been healthy.

Hope to see the position filled with another good bwood player (they have plenty)and see them go deep into the playoffs and represent ditrict 2-3a. Best of luck to the LIONS!!

Much respect to Wylie. We were definitely outmatched tonight. The only excuse I can think of is Wylie was better in all facets of the game. Like I always say, I'm a Wylie supporter from here on out.

All the smack I talked last week was for fun (like most of my smack talk is) and I wish Wylie the best of luck on their quest for their next state championship, which I think they will easily win in Division 1. They are just too solid all the way around and their QB is a stud. I hear he is a great kid too and I love that.

It was a good M&G. All the Wylie fans I have ever met are always classy and respectful. Even ccmom. Haha

Brownwood should be fine. I think we found us a QB that can get the job done until our starter returns. We still have some growing up to do.

Good luck to Wylie the rest of the way.

Nice talking to you and Kid Ice. I really thought you and Kid Ice were the same person. :D

The Lions played their hearts out. I feel for you and your Brownwood Lions. Injuries have really taken their toll. I hope your players get healthy soon, so you can compete at full strength for the rest of the season. I think you found a QB. The kid did great. Shipley made some incredible catches. I was real impressed with Dillon Ellis. The kid is fast and has great hands. Derek Longoria was another player that impressed me, but he having to cover the whole field took its toll on him. He’s a heck of a punter. Good luck in the rest of your season. All that said, don’t expect for me to not give you a little trash talk this week. It’s all in fun and I know if we had lost I would expect the same from you! :D

i had a nice write up last night and when i hit post the site went down last night..............here's a very condensed version.

hit a coyote-wolf-dog(haha) o the way home last night on 377 near blanket. texted gsquared about it to watch out for him, he called about 3 minutes later saying as soon as he opened the text he looked up in time to swerve out of the way to miss what i had annihilated. bent the license plate up pretty good in the front, cracked the"grill" didn't see any blood or hair, didn't get a chance to see underneath, good thing they're small animals. (*disclaimer* animal lovers and peta, he committed suicide on my car so dont get mad.)

besides a blown coverage early in the game that lead to brownwoods first touchdown, wylie looked great. i know its early and there is alot of football left to be played, but im really hoping gilmer can go d-1 just so there is a chance of a wylie gilmer match up a long way from now.....i think i can easily say it would the the longshot 3a matchup of the year. alot can happen between now and then, but that game would make me happy, i wanna be happy, make it happen gilmer and wylie!!!

nice seeing everyone again, and meeting the new guys/girls!

Congrats to Abilene Wylie for a big win. They proved again that they are of the most complete teams around and should be a force in the DI playoffs, and I, like so many, hope that it ends up in a Wylie-Gilmer matchup---and I have to put the usual disclaimer in---many games and teams between here and there right now, but wishfull thinking is still legal, I think.

My heart goes out to the Brownwood team and fans--not out of pity---but out of understanding. Brownwood doesn't have a thing wrong that a a little run of luck with injuries and maybe a little softer schedule won't cure in time. All programs need time to build a contender and Brownwood is no exception. I guarantee you the Lions will continue to heal and gain valuable experience this season, and pehaps finish better than many expect. In the future, Brownwood has the coach, the tradition, and the fan backing to return to prominence. A few 'studs' here and there and a little of the luck I mentioned, and they will be where their great fans want them to be---but it just won't be overnight.

Thanks to all the Brownwood folks being great hosts. Gordon Wood Stadium provides a great atmosphere for these kids to compete and the local people I met were very friendly, and gracious hosts.

It was also fun to meet you guys at halftime and I enjoyed getting to watch your players come out of the tunnel with all the lights and music.

Best of luck to your injured players and to your team as a whole. Your team is young, but so is the season and there is a lot of football left to be played. :cheerl:

Oh....and Rocket isn't THAT short! :D

And where the heck was L48? Those of us at the M&G thought he might have gotten a little carried away at Humphrey Pete's and forgot about the game? ;)

I was at the game here is my take on the game, looking from outside the box.

So what are the odds that Abilene Wylie will go 4A on the next alignment?
Good gosh that was the largest 3A school I have ever seen in both numbers and size.
Another Celina when they were in 2A?
They should have a cakewalk to state again.

Give coach Shipley (sp?) time at Brownwood and they will get better.
A little size on the Lions line wouldn't hurt. That should come during the offseason.
I think Bwood's 3rd string qb came in and done a pretty good job.
After he gets a week of practice as the starter the Lions should bounce back.

Brownwood will get better. With all the injuries they've had, it's a wonder they've been as competitive as they are. Classy group of guys too at the M&G. Hope all gets better in Brownwood soon so I don't feel as guilty about dealing them grief. Oh, and Rocket, great post earlier in the thread, you've not as bad as ccmom was telling us right before the M&G :D JUST KIDDING!

Brownwood's QB's

We will be fine with #14. I think they said he has never played qb before but give him a little time and he will be fine.

Rough game for us last night, thing will continue to improve

Yeah Wylie's big, but their one of 16 3A teams with an enrollment of over 900.
Link http://www.uil.utexas.edu/2008align/pdf/3A_fb_enroll.pdf

You have to remember that UIL sets the numbers. All Wylie does is count their students. Then they call the UIL, report the numbers and tell the state where to set 3A enrollment, so they can stay under that number. ;)

What really gets me is how many schools can have half a student. How does that happen?

Personally, I think 3A is the toughest to play in. More competition with less facilities. If I'm not mistaken doesn't 3A have the largest enrollment seperation from start to cutoff. It seems like a huge difference between 400 and 1000. thats my opinion take it for what its worth. :D

I think that picture says it all, its tough to see that, I wish Brownwood would have been at full strength, I'm positive the game would have looked different, not saying the outcome would be different but I think it would have been a lot closer

The half time score was 31-7.... I had a choice of meeting you guys again or meeting my old buddy Jack Daniels in the parking lot again... he treats me better.

Actually I just got lazy and did not walk down there.. Lion King and I waved from a distance but you guys snubbed us and did not wave back. You acted like you did not notice me in the crowd.:)

I think if Graylon would have been healthy the score would have been different too, but not enough to change the outcome. AW my suck but the football team is impressive. yall were way too much for us to handle last night.

My only complaint about last night is our defense kind of looked like last years... a lot of watching you guys just run right by us. Shipley even talked about it on the radio after the game. I bet that changes next week.

Good luck to you guys the rest of the year.

If so, if you read the post i replied to, that blogger only has 5. Nor did my post refer to ALL Abilene Wylie bloggers. However, being a nebie with only 22 posts I will be more specific in the future.

Back to the game... Have you guys ever seen so many flags thrown in a game? I think the refs are gonna have to shoulder surgery by the end of the season. I think in total there we 25 or so peneltys. Thats one flag for every 3 or 4 plays... incedible!

Read your post again you didnt say "SOME" AW posters. You tried to say all AW posters.

By the way I never said you were not knowledgable nordo I belive knowledge is based on your number of posts but to make the broad statements you made about Wylie poster was uninformed. Once you have been here a while you will figure out who has class and who doesent have class.

For example, making a broad statement about an entire community/city based on what one or two poster say is uninformed and not classy!

I'm finally able to get on and give Abilene Wylie it's well deserved congrats!

Here's my view:
Wylie is a great, well oiled machine of a team. I was very impressed with the size and execution on both sides of the ball from the Bulldogs. I told someone else this and they agreed... In all honesty, Wylie reminded me of some of the Brile's Stephenville teams back in the 90's. They know their assignments, execute them well, and commit very few mistakes... and have the talent to do so. Classy as always. I wouldn't doubt for one minute that Wylie could be a top 10 4A team. No excuses from this Brownwood fan. It is tough that we have had so many injury's. i wish the best of recovery's to both Stephens and Brown. Shipley took a while to get into the game. He is impressive.

It was good meeting everyone at the M&G. You Wylie folks are a classy bunch all the way around. Wish I could have gotten down there earlier. GarciaP77 is up to something with that camera, I know it.:D

Besh of luck from here on out to Abilene Wylie.
