A very large amount of mankinds biggest advancements came from research and development in space travel. Imagine the ideas that will be made into reality during the attempt to colonize the moon. I honestly think we should concentrate on the oceans first but the moon will eventually be our goal. (Barring any major natural diaster that sets us back 1000 years)

Our government spending 79 million is about equal to you and me spending 100.00. The possible ramifications from this could be huge.

The Apollo missions to the moon produced many of the things we take for granted to day such as the ball point pen and teflon.:D Just to name a few.

Satellite Technology, Communications and the spin off of GPS Nav have made Space Exploration worth it by themselves. If you do not realize how GPS has revolutionized our world since the 1990s you would be amazed, air travel, commerce, surveying, construction... everything you interact with today was impacted by GPS.
