Just a few thoughts added this week.

-I give up. There’s absolutely no logical reason that Gilmer should be ranked lower than first. Not only have they played a schedule that’s as tough as any in the state, they’ve absolutely dominated that schedule. And I’ve also been corrected on them playing from behind. Apparently, Liberty-Eylau was beating the Buckeyes until the light came on at half time.

-Plenty of shuffling in the rankings.

-Does the two-point win against Madisonville tell us that Rockdale’s weaker than we though or that Madisonville’s stronger than we thought? The Tigers still jumped five spots.

-I’M CRYING FOR YOU: Jasper is ranked three spots below WO-S. West is ranked six below Mexia.

-How did Wimberley wind up on this list?

-Silsbee grabbed a vote despite sitting at 1-4. That four-point loss to Jasper last week and the one-point loss to Newton a couple weeks ago impressed someone.

-MAKING A CASE FOR THE TOP 25: Center (4-1) is still running roughshod over teams. Last week’s victim, Bullard, gave up 157 yards and four TD’s to Tre Sudds in a 50-0 stomping. Coldspring-Oakhurst (5-1) is doing a lot of the same. They made light work of Shepherd and own an impressive win over Madisonville. Meanwhile, Kennedale (5-0) cruised to their fifth win of the season with a W over 4A Richmond Foster. Edna (3-1) dropped their first game of the year, but the Cowboys showed their mettle in the five-point loss to sixth-ranked 2A Refugio. Bandera (5-1) is showing no signs of slowing down.

I will say this, Silsbee certainly impressed me. And not because they lost to Jasper.

Silsbee's athletes are ATHLETES. No doubt in my mind, Silsbee surely is the best 1-4 team in all of 3a. Don't be surprised if they knock off some highly ranked teams before this season is over.

Wimberley even being mentioned in this is a joke... How can they be ranked ahead of teams that have better records and that beat them badly?

Hupernikomen, I sure hope you didn't mean Coldspring's next game against Tarkington. Shepherd blanked Tarkington by 57 points while Coldspring put 56 on Shepherd. Am hoping you meant later in the season against Cleveland. That game should be as good as last years. Back and forth game until 3rd qtr when Coldspring QB hurt his leg. This year's game will be at home for Coldspring. Should be fun.

I wish them the best of luck against Navasota in the 2nd round of the playoffs just as I did last year

If that is the matchup, Silsbee just might fare better. This year's Silsbee team is much improved over last year judging from the time I saw them last year against Navasota, and this year against Jasper.

One of these days everything is going to line up right for QB Johnson and his receivers and they are going to go off on somebody.

They shouldve beaten us last year by 7, and they shouldve beaten Jasper this year as well. I'm not seeing that much of a difference compared to last year

Let's just say, Silsbee is getting better each week. I honestly think they will peak at the right time.
