I think that the lost against La Vega in '08 was the quarters.

Correct. Silsbee was Regionals or Area, and La Vega was Quarterfinals.

Thread reopened. Navasota beat Jasper in the 2nd round and lost to LaMarque pretty handily in the 3rd round in 1996

1996 was the one and only game between the two that I see unless I missed something.

1996 was the one and only game between the two that I see unless I missed something.

1996 was one of our best years ever up until kickoff of that game. They had a good defense, and a good offense. The running game was Navasota's bread and butter, though Jermaine Henderson was a big threat at wideout his senior year. Jermaine had a good game, but Navasota had several costly penalties, including a negated punt return TD, and gave up some big plays, including a TD pass to a Cougar receiver that was so wide open he could have walked the last 40 yards to the house.
This year has the makings to be Navasota's best ever. The offense is diverse and almost unstoppable when they are focused, and the improvement of the offensive line this year was the missing piece for the first half of the season. The defense is the biggest reason I think the Rattlers will beat LaMarque and keep on marching toward state. They fly to the ball, tackle well, and have size on the line and speed in the second level. They are as close to complete as I have ever seen. It is a shame I haven't gotten to make a game this year, and that won't change this week with work. Beyond this week, it looks like my last three personal days will be taken.
