View Full Version : Region II GotW: Argyle (5-0) vs. Prosper (5-0)

These two consensus top 15 teams in the state (#5 and #1 in the region, respectively) mix it up in 9-3A's only matchup of unbeatens for the year.

Argyle's always potent offense meets up with one of the state's best defenses so far this season, but the Prosper defense hasn't really been tested yet

This should be a close game. I'll pick Prosper by a touchdown, but who knows. Argyle will be the best team Prosper has played this season. Hope everyone is healthy and well for this game.

My heart wants to cheer for Argyle, and I think they have a shot to win the game if they can score 3 tds on Prosper, much easier said than done. But I'll take Prosper by 10, mainly because I want them to be undefeated when they come into God's country to take on my Bobcats!

This week will answer a lot of questions? How good is Argyle? Is Prospers D as good as claimed ?
The winner has the inside track to the playoffs, and the loser will have a weekly battle to stay in the hunt.
I am going to abstain from voting on this one. There are just too many unknowns. I will say that if it is high scoring game; Argyle should prevail. If Prosper can control the clock and keep its D rested it's their game. Either way I think this one is within 2 scores all the way.

  Good luck to both teams!

Prosper wins pretty easily let's say 28-7! Their defense is just too good!

Prosper has the type defense that makes it hard for anyone to score big on them, but Argyle has damn good offense. Prosper offense needs to prove itself Friday – Get the ball in the play makers hands (No fumbles Mario) and the line needs to build on the Decatur game. Teams are gunning for Prosper so Argyle will be fired up! A close well fought battle will develop this Friday with a Green victory– Good Luck to both teams especially #’s 79,68,77, 64,61, GO Prosper!;)

Well you gotta take care of Argyle first PHOP, then you can worry about coming to Celina. And the Bobcats gotta take care of Sanger this week. But October 16th will be here before you know it! It's Celina-Prosper!

Having seen both teams, I think Prosper wins by 10, or so.

Why? I think Prosper's "D" is as advertised---one of the best in 3A--every player is good at what he does, especially the DB #22 who I think will jump a route or two and make a pick or two.

Can Argyle win? You bet---they have a great offense and some huge, good players on their "D", but I think the Argyle "O" will have to execute to near perfection on almost every play to overcome the Prosper "D"--they just don't make many mistakes and give almost no "wiggle" room to offenses---you have to "take" every yard from them. If the Argyle "D" can keep Prosper from scoring more than 2-3 times, and their man-beast #15 is able to get into the Prosper backfield a a lot, they could win this one if they get their offense really clicking.

Prosper by 3 scores. I expect prosper's D to come through and be every bit as good as they have been. Offensivly Prosper's O-line will have to have a big game but i think they are up to it. Despite picking prosper by 3 scores i think argyle can win this game if turnovers and penalties go their way.

Agreed - I am looking forward to the game - Do you know how the city intends on handling the crowd? and parking for that matter? Small seating capacity in "God's Country"

Celina must of been made on the 7th day, the day God rested. God probably gave Satan one town to call his own. :D

Good luck on the parking. With regard to the seating you should be OK if yoiu are one of the first 4000 to arrive. Additiional seating has been brought in.

They have brought more seating in, but it still will not be enough. I know all the Celina players have this game circled on the calender as the game to win other than a state championship.

Prosper by 14! Offense has gotten into a groove, and defense is one of the best in the state!!

Agreed. Should be one of the bigger crowds our stadium has seen since that '02 Gainesville game. This one should be the GOTW next week too. As for this week, Celina should take care of Sanger, and they need to do it in easy fashion. Prosper might have their hands full with Argyle, but I'll still take the green birdies by two scores simply because their defense, thus far, has been immovable.

I say Prosper by 14. But only 14-0 or 21-7. I don't think Argyle will score much on Prosper's D. But I think the offense for Prosper may struggle a little against Argyle's D, But finally kick it in by the 4th to pull ahead and put it out of reach.
