Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor at a large university had some exchange students in his class. One day in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ‘Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’ The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.
The young man said this was no joke. ‘You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence along one side of the place where they come to eat. When they get used to the fence, they begin to come to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and trap the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The current government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco, steel, & oil subsidies, dairy & coal subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms & protections just a little at a time.
One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government ‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends.
If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Wow. That is a very great story. I am so glad you are consistent with your socialism theory. It doesnt matter what points anyone makes to counter, you are still sticking to this absurd theory. Keep fighting the good fight buddy!:hand:

A huge group of us Americans are doing everything we can do to stall are turn back the present radical Socialism plunge during this deepening recession.
Sorry at 68 years of age, I am fighting for a strong free-enterprise driven American; the kind you have inherited.

I think I will give a--site--one here so you can follow daily what happened during the Great Depression starting in 1929--it is uncanny are to the daily comparisons of our economic masses thinking in our world today.

I have but one Macro-economics course at the graduate level; but that was the springboard for my very successful investing strategy in our present economy today.

Free enterprise? Like the banks we had to rescue after market manipulation, greed, and corruption stymied their progress? I think there is such an uneven playing field between small businesses, medium sized businesses, and large corporations to have a free market that benefits everyone and not those only at the top tier of the spectrum along with their cronies. In my opinion, I think there has to be government regulations to protect the average citizens and not a goverment that bails out a failed system. I think the results of an unchecked system speaks for itself.

Bingo! You are going to make a great free enterprise conservative someday.. LOL

Our only difference is that Adam Smith WEALTH OF NATIONS; Thomas Paines' writings on free-enterprise (correcting the economy). Wesley, with "His invisible hand" and the other ritings of INSPIRED John Wesley; on how Godly people can raise themselves and the welfare of all others all around them--these were the--sparkplugs-- that raised this great nation to lead the world in hundreds of positive ways...

I will fight for a great plight for all mankind and that comes from less Government and more rights & freedoms for all the people; to be able to mold and regulate their affairs as they see fit.

We basically only disagree in that you trust Big Government to regulate correctly and I trust the people given all kinds of freedoms as can be afforded, to lift the civilization.

Sure we have to have LAWS to stop the folks that want to not work and be crooked: and to "fast track unlawfully": at honest folks expense....

BUT WE DON'T HAVE KEEP OR ELECT THEM TO CONGRESS LOL

this story reminds me of a quote by Thomas Paine, "time makes more converts than reason"... the pigs got used to things over time...
