Who is going up or down this next year? I know the date for enrollment numbers is coming up. Also, any idea or thoughts on what the cutoff numbers will be?

Depending on cut off, Breckenridge is in the running for 2A. But we also thought that two years ago, so we'll see.

I'll go ahead and say it because everyone is thinking it. Wylie will have about 200 out with the flu the day of the count.:D

El Campo is hoping to make down to 3A

I think it's just wishful thinking and the district doesn't want them too

Heck guys we still have about 12 weeks of football left before we worry about realignment. Let the season finish before we start throwing these wishes/rumors out on the board.

With that said El Campo will not make it down to 3A they still have way to many kids at this point, The numbers would have to change to drasticly for them to drop

Their enrollment would have to drop by roughly 80 kids to go 3A

Last year Wylie had 922. At the start of this year, the paper said we only had a 150+ new students in K-12, with the largest percentage in Kindergarten. Now why is Wylie so small in a large town? Abilene has a 5A and 4A in its ISD. Wylie is independent. AISD is larger and has the college credit classes, Wylie does not. Abilene is also a military town (Dyess AFB). New mil folks coming in in to town choose where to live by looking at the schools and housing and choose whats best for them. Some want a big school with the college classes, others hear great things about Wylie. We built in Wylie when we moved here because we knew we wanted Wylie. Mostly officers go Wylie, but more and more NCO's (me) and Airman are making the move, too. Housing is better in Wylie, but more expensive. LOTS OF FACTORS is the bottom line. that and we just love 3A!

halestorm, most of Wylie's district lies in the rural areas outside of the city limits. Not many homes in those areas. Wylie does have several college credit classes, my daughter is in one. And the price of homes depends on where your looking. Compare Elmwood (AISD) and Lytle South (WISD)

Squid, I'll have to check for those classes when my daughter is a Sr. The housing is mostly out of town, but we do have the most expansion room of the three districts in town. as for pricing, sure there are very affordable homes in Wylie (we built one under 120K), but comparatively, it costs more in Wylie than in Cooper or Abilelen's districts.... and worth it!

If you will go to the UIL handbook and look at Chapter 4- section 6- page8 and atricle 10 it states:

4-A cutoff = Highland Parks ADA + 1
3-A cutoff = Abilene Wylie ADA + 1

What seems to be the problem here?

Region IV
Pleasanton is coming back down to 3A from what I hear. Sam Houston is getting closed down. Navarro is going 3A. Marion should drop down to 2A. Boerne steps into the picture in 3A maybe 4A from what I hear.

If Edna, palacios, Yoakum, and Goliad all drop to 2A, I can see Gonzales and cuero moving west to 27-3a with La Vernia, Navarro, Pleasanton, and Somerset. Or Gonzales and Cuero could Move north to 25-3a with Bellville, Sealy, la Grange, and Giddings. all are within 90 miles of each other.

Following up on the other two posts, cameron will probably be 2a. The current number shown on the cameron isd website is 414. This number was updated when school started so it is corect.

The Farmersville enrollment as of the start of this school year was 422. The outgoing senior class is bigger than the incoming 8th grade class. I will guess next years enrollment at 400-410.

Yeah, stick Cuero into D25 with those other teams and make it a nice little 7 team district.:)
That would end all the arguments about which district is the toughest.

If thats the case there will be quite a few teams dropping down. Stephenville, Big Spring, Pampa, Mineral Wells to name a few.

I don't know if there's going to be a big jump in cutoffs this year. I don't get the sense that people are flocking into Texas like they used to because of the economy. A lot of empty houses and lots are still sitting around my neck of the woods.

Matthew328
10-07-2009, 09:37 AM
The enrollment won't jump in 5A at all..in fact it might go down...it will still jump in 4A simply because 75% of new schools are opening at 4A level...this causes more schools compacted in 4A which will ripple down to 3A as a higher cut

actually a report a couple of weeks ago said Texas had one of the biggest move in ratios in the nation.

remember the downturn of the economy has not hit texas near as bad as the rest of the nation.

No I don't know the number for this year I know last year we were only about 50 kids over... And I know with the way the economy has been there are alot of people moving back closer to DFW so mabe we will get lucky.....
Playing in district 10 4a is tough when you have about half the kids as they have.
