Monahans
- The defense for the No. 8-ranked Loboes held San Angelo Lake View’s offense in check for most of the night in a 43-13 victory.
Monahans (4-0) held the Chiefs to 134 total yards and scoreless until the fourth quarter. That performance came after the Chiefs rolled to 477 total yards, including 448 through the air against Greenwood a week earlier.
“Their quarterback threw the ball well but we pressured him well and got some sacks. He didn’t have a lot of time to throw it,” coach Mickey Owens said.
- Offensively, Owens said QB Quincy Titus had another good night passing the ball as the senior completed 7 of 13 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns. The Loboes also rushed the ball 45 times for 255 yards.
- The Loboes will still be without RB/DB Arturo Aranda (ankle) for this week’s home game against Fort Stockton (2-2). Owens said the team might get Aranda back in a couple of weeks and that should be a big boost for his team.
