Most accurate poll they've put out so far, IMO. I have a problem with them bumping Iowa all the way to #13 after beating Penn State. Also would like to see Notre Dame put in the top 25 but they need to start winning by more than 3-4 points against average opponents.

Yeah, they just need to start winning by larger margins. Wins over Michigan State and Purdue by 3 and 4 points is not very impressive.

Then why do you think they should be in the top 25?

I don't. I said I'd like to see them there, not that they deserve to be.

LSU will loose 3 of their next 5 games - no way they should be ranked 4th

Anyone notice Houston at #12?

I couldn't tell you the last time I have seen them ranked this high.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuh.

can we get rid of automatic bids?

boise might be the best team in the country, they're going to run the tables.

problem: that means UH won't be in a BCS game if that happens.
(i see TCU losing at least once, if not twice)

meanwhile, Cincy looks good but we know in the end every big east school will have at least 2 or 3 losses. if UH and Boise can go undefeated and not both get in while the overrated big east champions (whoever they may be) do, something is wrong.

that said, the 3 SEC teams might be better than both Boise (if i am overestimating them) and UH, but if either win em all there will be at least one of those SEC schools missing.

lets just get rid of the bcs and go back to the old days, where human polls decide everything. xD

Boise St. is NOT the best team in the country. Their undefeated, but haven't played anybody with the xception of Oregon. But after that, no one. They play UC Davis this weekend, oh yeah thats a real tough game..gimme a break.

You got my vote..but then if we do that, teams like Notre Dame will surface without a conference again..

That appears to be a pretty big exception, given their demolition of Cal and that Boise is their only loss.

The truth is that as long as there is no playoff, we don't *know* if Boise could be the best just as we don't know about Utah last year. That's the shame of the current system, IMO.

i just picked a team in the top 5 that had played nobody that i thought he could connect with to show boise's preconference wasn't considerably weaker than any other top teams.

it's called a comparison. to show boise has played a tougher schedule than some teams in front of them, so saying they aren't the best team because of their schedule is a ludicrous statement.

I like Boise St., dunno where they match up yet... What is it going to take for them to start the year in or around the top 5 consistantly?

oh wait, lousiana tech is there too.

why not start a new conference with the best mid major schools. and if the bcs won't let them in, destroy the system.

imagine:

tcu
boise
uh
utah
fresno state
utep
tulsa
byu

something like that.

Clemson was a pretty big win for TCU; i don't think Clemson is a tremendous team this year but they are also very good at home.

I'm as big a Horned Frogs fan as anyone, but Cincy's looked dang impressive. Oregon State had a favorable matchup in the secondary, don't sell Fresno short because of their record, and they dominated Rutgers.

Tony Pike has been one of the most impressive QB's in the nation to this point of the season. 70% completion, averaging 300+ ypg and over 3 TD's, QB rating in the 170's.

If I had to put together a five-player list for Unitas Awards Finalists at this point in the season, it'd be (in no particular order):

Jimmy Clausen
Case Keenum
Tim Tebow
Jake Locker
and Pike

He's that good. Has performed better than even Colt McCoy so far. Not a bad game yet. Heck, not even an average game yet.

BTownVBall3
09-27-2009, 06:06 PM
Keenum and Tebow over Colt maybe..Nobody i'd rather have leading my offense, that's for sure.

Gators17

My Heisman list so far in no order:

Tim Tebow
Jimmy Clausen
Case Keenum
Javid Best
Colt McCoy
Tony Pike

I know, there's only 5 finalists but Pike is good enough to be mentioned with those players, IMO.

I can still see about 6 teams that are only on this list from things that they did years ago. Why would you not have Texas A&M in the top 25? Even with the soft teams they have played they are doing what good teams do. Whip that a-- And from what I read they have one the top O's in the country. And this is comming from a huge UT fan. The AP is crap, and anyone who agrees with this top 25 is as lost as they are when they post there votes.Teams like Mississippi,California,Georgia,Miami,Penn State,Ohio State,USC would loose to alot of top 50 teams. They are there for what they did in years past. it's a crock.

My four would be:

Tim Tebow
Case Keenum

Best looked great until last week and did nothing in a 42-3 loss to Oregon, and Jimmy Clausen is good but not better than any of the above. Tebow and McCoy are both helped by great OL's but Florida's is better and lets Tebow look a little better passing sometimes than he would otherwise. McCoy needs to loosen up a little at the beginning of games but if he is crisp in the big games he will win the Heisman.

IMO Jimmy Clausen is just as good as any of the others and better than Tony Pike. Pike is helped out a lot by the system he is in.

Jimmy Clausen lost his one game thus far this season that actually meant anything. He has proved nothing to me in 3 years. Pike is putting up much bigger numbers with much less talent.

LSU has looked average at best in all their games so far.
Boise is NOT the best team in the country.
Oklahoma State and Penn State need to be 10 spots lower.
Kansas shouldn't be ranked. Neither should Iowa.
A&M will get rolled on first time they play a real team.
OU would murder VT, Boise and USC.
Bama has impressed me more than UT AND FLORIDA.
Georgia should be 0-4 right now and NOT ranked.
And South Carolina should be in there.

Oh, and Notre Dame, Clausen and Weis are all way overrated. They suck.

A&M has played 3 of the worst teams in college football. The teams on that list have not.

Why would anyone WANT Notre Dame to be in the Top 25?

I see the AP pollsters have, thankfully, noticed that ND is not that good.

ND will probably make a BCS game where they will precisely get rolled, proving the point that they didn't deserve to be there in the first place.

I'd be willing to bet any wager you came up with that ND would spank both Iowa and Kansas, both of whom are rated in the top 25.
