THOUGHTS/OBSERVATIONS

-State's biggest upset of the week has got to be West's one-point win over #9 Mexia.

-Big wins by Sealy, West, Carthage, and Rockdale.

-Big statements by Cuero and Gilmer.

-The way Gilmer's been playing, I wouldn't even dock Daingerfield in the polls. Is there a more impressive team this side of 4A Lake Travis in the state?

-Wouldn't Gilmer/Lake Travis be a heck of a game? I'd pay college ticket prices for that one.

-Close calls for Bellville, Caldwell, and Sinton. Madisonville seems to be playing decent ball, but Royal and Orange Grove?

-Another week, another impressive performance out of Argyle. How are they still ranked below district rivals Celina?

-Losses in the top 25: (#9) Mexia, (#19) LaVernia, (#24) Palestine

Sinton/Orange Grove is becoming a rivalry. They usually play Sinton fairly tough. It didn't surprize US. BR may surprize some folks this year.

Maybe. But I'd still pay good money to see you play them. I think any team with as much D1 talent as ya'll have and an explosive, pass-oriented offense has a puncher's chance against bigger, more talented teams.

Wylie should be ahead of Giddings, IMO. Also, Bellville is WAY overrated and from the 3 games I've seen them play this year they are going to be scrapping just to make playoffs. With the likes of Giddings, La Grange, Sealy, and heck even Columbus, Bellville better get their butts in gear if they want to make playoffs.

Yup. Nobody's played them to within two TD's since the 2008 season opener, and only three teams (Evangel Christian-Louisiana, Cibolo Steele, & Cedar Park--all last year) have been able to keep it to within 20.

They're a 4A team and there's a good chance they're better than any 5A in Texas.

Oh I know, I had a few buddies on the team. I saw em play one time each of the past 3 seasons. I just couldn't remember who they played in state last year. And when I saw Lulu was from Longview, it rang a bell. Kinda like LT did to em.

Garrett Gilbert will be better than Colt I think. Just my opinion, the kid is a phenomenal quarterback.

Based on Mack Brown's history, McCoy (analogous to Applewhite) ought to go to the bench in favor of Gilbert (analogous to Simms) right now. Gilbert is the QB of the future. We can't afford to live in the past with McCoy.

Obviously, I'm being sarcastic, but the unwarranted demotion of Applewhite REALLY DID occur.
