Shiner, ranked No. 4 in Class A poll, showed they can play with any classification of school Friday night at Comanche Stadium.

The Comanches built a 27-0 halftime lead and finished with a 43-0 win over Class 3A Palacios.

The Sharks slipped to 2-3 on the season and Shiner improved to 4-1.

Palacios is open next Friday and starts playing for keeps on Oct. 9 when the Sharks host winless Goliad in the District 28-3A opener. The Tigers dropped a 42-0 decision to La Grange.

Palacios' offense could muster only 105 yards in the game compared to 316 for Shiner.

Quarterback Greg Sexton threw only two passes and both were incomplete. Bryan Pham rushed for six yards on two carries. D'Andre Haynes picked up 39 yards on 15 carries. Keith Grice had 23 yards on two carries and Vincent Garcia had 24 yards on 19 carries.

Shiner's Josh Greathouse scored two touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards. Curtis Shields scored two touchdowns and rushed for 38 yards. Quarterback Drew Stafford completed eight of nine passes for 95 yards.

Greathouse scored Shiner's first touchdown on a 6-yard run with 3:52 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point kick failed leaving the Comanches with a 6-0 lead.

Shields scored from the 19 with only 41 seconds left and Stafford added the two-point conversion to make it 14-0.

Shiner added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to make it 27-0.

Brady Beal scored on an 11-yard run with 8:26 remaining and Stafford added the kick. Stafford then connected with Evel Jones on a 28-yard scoring strike with 1:21 left until halftime.

Shields scored on a 7-yard run with 8:47 left in the third quarter to make it 33-0.

Sixteen second later Greathouse scored from the three and Stafford booted the extra point to bring the score to 40-0.

Stafford then booted an 18-yard field goal with 11:08 remaining in the game to complete the scoring.

i pity the fools that speak out against Cuero. can you say BEAT DOWN?

i don't even know when the game is, but I'm gonna go ahead and predict at least a 50 spot for the Gobblers.

Coach Reeve will not put up more than 45-48 points. He always shuts it down. He just cant see kids beating other kids by 60-70 points.

It's flat out crazy... they just don't have enough talent in that area to have seasons like they did a couple of years back consistantly... Don't get me wrong, Shiner has some talent and always plays hard, but we're talking about maybe one of the worst teams in 3A... not trying to take shots at Palacios, it's just the truth... they have a great coach, he just doesn't have the athletes...

Two-class skips are pretty rare. Last one up this way was in 1989 when then-1A Bells played then-3A Prairiland. (Both are 2A now.)
