Just got home from Needville

Was 14-0 at halftime after Jays got TD with under a minute left

Needville offense sputted some but got the big plays

I doubt if Tidehaven had 200 yards in total offense and scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Tidehaven got its toughest test of the season Friday night from Class 3A Needville at Bluejay Stadium.

The Jays relied on a balanced offensive attack to beat the Tigers 41-14.

"They're the best football team we've seen so far," said Tidehaven coach Jim Sides after the game.

"They are well coached and do a good job offensively and defensively."

"This was a good test for us headed into district."

The 2-3 Tigers have an open week next Friday and hosts last year's District 29-2A champion Industrial on Oct. 9.

"We're going to get prepared and hopefully our kids see that and understand."

Needville built a commanding 28-0 lead after three quarters only to see Tidehaven score twice in the final 12 minutes of the game.

"I thought our kids fought well and played hard," said Sides.

Needville's Dylan Fuchs scored two touchdowns and rushed for 73 yards. He also caught a 20-yard pass from Caleb Berry to start the game.

Berry completed seven of 18 passes for 178 yards as the Bluejays totaled up 411.

Tidehaven's offense was shut down in the first half and finished with 236 yards.

Marcus Lara scored one touchdown and rushed for 20 yards. He caught five passes for 116 yards.

Dannels completed 18 of 31 passes for 225 yards and had one two interceptions.

Cole Klontz caught a 20-yard touchdown pass for Tidehaven's first touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers failed to move the ball on their first possession to start game.

Needville took over at the Tiger 34. Three plays later Caleb Berry connected with Dylan Fuchs in the endzone for a touchdown.

Berry's kick made it 7-0 with 8:34 remaining.

Tidehaven took the ensuing kickoff but couldnt pick up a first down and punted.

Needville turned the ball over on downs and Tidehaven took over at its own 47 and also turned the ball over own downs.

Tidehaven took its third possession of the game with 5:24 remaining in the first quarter and drove to the Needville 18 after Lara caught a 30-yard pass.

Then on a fourth and 11 from the 21, Dannels threw an incomplete pass with 2:09 left.

Tidehaven's defense held and forced a punt and the Tigers took over at the Bluejay 48.

The quarter ended.

Then on a fourth and seven, an incomplete gave the ball over on downs at the 35 with 9:37 left in the second stanza.

The Jays drove to the Tidehaven 40 on a reverse by Shea Lehman.

On a fourth and one from the Tiger 31, Berry picked up a first down with 5:25 remaining.

Berry was sacked for a big loss by Carl Lampkin and the Tigers took over on downs at their own 34 with 2:54 remaining in the half.

Needville got the ball back with 1:05 remaining at the Tiger 49. Lehman then caught a pass to the 25.

On a hook and ladder play, Mason Briscoe connected with Shea Leman for a first and goal from the one.

Fuchs scored on the next play with only 23 seconds left and Berry booted the extra point for a 14-0 Bluejay lead.

Needville took over at its own 20 to start the third quarter and punted the ball.

The Tigers took over at midfield with 9:48 remaining.

Tidehaven drove to the Bluejay 30 after a pass interference penalty.

Berry then picked off a pass by Runnels and the Jays took over at their own 22 with 7:07 remaining.

Two plays later, Berry found a wide open Briscoe who took the ball in the end zone for a touchdown with 6:15 showing on the clock.

Berry's kick brought the score to 21-0.

Tidehaven took over at its own 35 after the ensuing kickoff.

Tidehaven couldn't convert on a third down and the Tigers had to punt.

Needville took over at its own 40.

Two plays later Fuchs scored from the 49 with 2:53 remaining and Berry's kick made it 28-0.

Tidehaven drove to the Bluejay 45 after a 15-yard catch by Lara.

Lara caught a pitch pass for a first down at the 21 and the third quarter ended.

Runnels connected with Colt Clontz in the end zone for a touchdown with 11:52 remaining.

Daniel Palomares kick made it 28-7.

Needville responded and drove to the Tiger 25-yard line

Three plays later, Jim Wilson score from the eight

Berry missed the extra point leaving the Bluejays with a 34-7 lead with 8:52 remaining.

Kendrick Scott capped off Needville's scoring on a 30-yard run with 6:46 remaining and Berry's kick made it 41-7.

Tidehaven responded and drove all the way down to the Needville eight yard line after Ian Wade caught a 45 pass.

Lara scored two plays later with 3:55 remaining and Palomares kick made it 41-14.

Tidehaven got the ball back at it's 48-yard line with 1:12 let in the game and drove in the redzone before Runnels was picked off by Cole Gorka in the final minute of the game.

Needville then ran out the clock to end the game.
