In a strange turn with the ongoing Phoenix Coyotes saga, Wayne Gretzky resigned as coach today. The team is holding a news conference this afternoon to announce that Dave Tippett will be the new head coach. Tippett goes to a division rival of the Stars only months after being let go after the Stars failed to make the playoffs with an injury-riddled season.
I think this is sad news for Stars fans. Tippett is one of the top 5-10 coaches in the NHL right now, and he's going to go up against the Stars six times a year now.
