Why is no one talking about this team? These guys are blowing and going. They are getting into the top 10 statewide but this board fails to mention them...... I guess is you aren't a Region 1 team no one cares!!!!

I've been on the Mexia bandwagon since the Gilmer game in 08.

I've had them as high as #5 in my polls. :)

I haven't gotten a chance to see the Blackcats play this season, but, last season I did. I was impressed. The Blackcats are making alot of noise!

Good luck the rest of the way.

No big surprise there. I bought lots of firecrackers by that name growing up. If they hadn't made a lot of noise, I'd have wanted my money back.

Can you tell us a little bit about Mexia?

Mexia has a defense that has pretty much shut down everyone, and on offense there are 2 names you must know if you watch or play against this team-QB Trae Davis and RB Doug Gentry. According to the Wacotrib, QB Davis has hit 71 of 84 passes for 929 yards with 10 td's and no interceptions. RB Gentry has 50 carries for 461 yards and 5 td's, and Davis has 41 carries for 361 yards and 6 td's.

Where do they play this week?
And How far would Mexia be from Waco? I might make a game.

They are in the Waco 3 A Distirct 19. They will play in Waco several times either at Robinson, Connally, LaVega or Lorena.

This team is no joke. I knew after last year playing them and knew that there RB was coming back that they were going to be putting up some points in 09. I am sure we will see them again in the playoffs.

Mexia is pretty freakin' good!

The did a number on Gilmer last year running the ball. Even when everyone in the stadium knew what was coming, they still ran the ball for good yardage.

Mexia had 372 yards and 29 points in the 2nd half against us last year. RB Doug Gentry ran for 252 yards and had 3 or 4 plays go for 40+ yards on us.

Everyone on Gilmer's side knew they were going to be a great team this season and next with Gentry in the backfield.
