and after that close game they played with UT yesterday I am even more convinced of it. The main thing is they must keep Coach Leach. If they do then they will start to be a top ten team consistently. They already have a great recruiting base in the Northwest Texas area and if they can get the recruits from that area the wins will come. They seem to be on their way.

If and when they get out of that gimmicky offense they may have a chance but until then just enjoy leading the Nation in passing yards and losing bowl games . Until then they will remain a mid teir Big 12 Team .

If Tech can play all the rest of their games at the level they played in Austin, they could be an 11-1 team, but they always end up screwing up and losing a couple of games to teams they should beat just when you think they've taken it to the next level, hence forth the 9-3. 8-4 seasons.

Tech's defense is definitely improved from last year. I would like to see TECH go on a wins streak... We should be in top 25 soon...

I can't believe Techs offense is still being called a "gimmicky offense".

Leach is an offense genius, and I agree Tech needs to keep him at all cost.

Wasnt that contract he signed a few months back a multi year deal? Seems like it was 6 years at least, and had some good incentives.

I think it was 5. For some reason that number sticks out to me?

I don't think it's gimmicky at all, I think it's genius.

Agreed. Just imagine what he could do with that offense with top teir talent like UT and OU gets. If they keep up the winning, they'll start getting more and more of those type players. Better look out then.

They dont turn out enough NFL talent to attract top recruits and the prospect of being stuck in the middle of nowhere for 4 years appeals to few.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the size of the two schools.

That's not a bad % in the last 9 years. I know it's not the powerhouse or record of USC but still not bad.

Besides that, Tech is the only team in the Big 12 south to qualify for a bowl game EVERY year since the Big 12 was formed.

the reason it is smaller is BECAUSE of Tech's location... It isnt close to anything. Austin your about equal distance to Dallas and Houston. San Antonio close. Aggie campus close to Houston, easy drive to Austin.

How many ranked teams do you know of that recruit and play a lot of 3 & 4A players from their neighborhood? Not a defense, I just admire Tech for this, and still doing pretty well against the so-called 'big' schools.

What does the size of the school have to do with it? Nobody has the enrollment UT does except Ohio State.

Maybe the size of the athletic budget, but not the school. About 3/4 of the shools in the top 25 have a smaller enrollment than Tech.

And how is Tech's offense gimmicky when Texas runs close to the same thing, but with more running plays. They don't throw the ball downfield any more than Tech does.
