View Full Version : Region II GotW: Texarkana Liberty-Eylau (2-2) @ Paris (3-1)

Liberty Eylau looks much improved this season, as does Paris (other than a 71-21 whitewashing vs. Greenville two weeks ago). TLE needs to get back on the winning track and Paris needs to prove it can win against other top Region II competition.

I'm picking this one to be TLE's week.

both of these teams are still trying to put their talent together

by playoff time both should be a force to be reckoned with

The Paris record is actually 2-2. We opened the season with a 12 point loss to defending state 4A champions Sulphur Springs.
LE will be the first 3A team we've played.

Liberty-Eylau has lost three games. The only game they won was their opener against North Lamar, IIRC.

Game should be a good one. No doubt LE has been battle tested but is still averaging just under 300 yds of offense and 25 pts in it's first 4 games. LE has played the #1 3A in Texas, #2 4A in Arkansas. The team was competitive despite making 3 and 5 turnovers respectively in their own territory. I think this week you will see the offense open up a little more. If LE plays the way they have the past 4 weeks less the turnovers this game should be a win. If the turnovers continue, Paris could win this. I gotta say LE 28 Paris 17.

I know the flu has been taking it's toll on us.
If our defense doesn't start doing a better job of tackling it will be a long night this week. We've lost to two good teams in Sulphur Springs and Greenville. Greenville is going to surprise a lot of people in their district this year.
I'll say it will be about a 7 point difference whichever way it goes.

This is the first time LE has been favored since week 1. I just hope the team plays like they are still underdogs. They need a good, strong win here to build confidence. This will be the last tuneup before our distrct opener against Pleasant Grove. That game may actually determine the district champion.  I believe the winner and the loser of that game will run the table the rest of the way. :D First things first though. Paris, get ready cause LE needs this game and will do what it takes to get the W.  :p

Paris hasn't been favored in a game all year. This is the first 3A team we've played. Massey has a three point underdog this week. Regardless of how this game goes, I don't see anyone in our district hanging close to us. That will hurt when we go into the playoffs though. At least we had a tough predistrict schedule.

North Lamar should be the D1 school even though they've not won a game and have Pleasant Grove this week. I still believe they will finish in top 3 in district.

That is 1 weak, weak team. If they make playoffs, they will be 1 n done. LE pulled the great majority of the starters when we took a 14 - 0 lead and the backups scored 2 more TDs. I am looking forward to seeing Paris, be the first time I have been there in a while. :D

I agree they will be one and done for sure. But this district is so weak that all they have to do to get in is beat Anna, Commerce, and Bonham.
If one of those teams beats them then Paris would be the D1.

I have no doubt your Wildcats are capable of winning. If I knew LE was gonna win I would save my gas and stay home.. That being said I do believe that LE will win this one.

Yeah those are our special sized mosquitos.
We have to have turned into the worst tackling team I've ever seen in the past three weeks. I think we have 9 sophmores playing so maybe that's part of the problem.
Must be nice having big backs like LE does. In all the years I've watched us we've never had a big back. Usually all about the size we are this year.
Good luck rest of the year. If NL can put 21 on PG you shouldn't have any problem.
