LaVega punt, they are trying to throw some, very evident they are a one dimension team. run only.

Wylie ball on their own 23.

Every bounce has gone Wylie's way. Wylie D is doing well.

This year's LaVega team is not the team we saw last year in Abilene.

I would agree with Blowfish, the D looks extremely fast and as always very disciplined.

Nice thing about the defense is we got some very good juniors out there.

TD LaVega

39-7 Wylie 1:53 left in 3rd.

Long drive all runs for LaVega. Would seem they are just working on their offense and realize they are not going to win the game.

Getting a little interesting. Wylie staying with 2nd/3rd team on offense and defense.

39-29 Wylie. 2:17 left

LaVega attempts on-side and Bulldogs have the ball on the 48. 1st team not coming in.

TD Wylie, 46-29.

Nice to see the 2nd/3rd team score for Wylie. 22 seconds left.

Final Score a lot closer than the game actually was. Wylie starters only played one series in the second half.

The first team defense has not given up a TD all year. All of the scoring against Wylie this year has been against the 2nd/3rd team.

Wylie had the bounces go their way in the first half, but had over 300 yards total offense. About 200 on the ground and 100 in the air by halftime. Very dominating performance by the Dawgs.

BELLMEAD — It took the Wylie football team more than three hours to make the trip out the Waco sub_urb of Bellmead for its game against La Vega.
But once the game start_ed, it took the Bulldogs all of seven minutes to ruin the Pirates’ homecoming celebrations.
Wylie ( 3- 0) scored 16 points in the first 6: 28, stretched its lead to 39- 0 by halftime and cruised to a 46-29 win in its fi rst road contest of the season.
“ That first half, I tell you what, we were hitting on all cylinders in every phase,” Wylie coach Hugh Sandifer said. “ We wanted to try to put the pressure on them with this being their homecoming. We wanted to jump on them early and we did. We were really pleased with our start.”
The Bulldogs scored their first touchdown just six plays into the game.
The Pirates (2-2) went three and out on their fi rst possession and following a punt, Joe Nasser scampered 48 yards and found the end zone on Wylie’s second play from scrimmage.
That set the stage for the barrage to come.
The Bulldogs picked up two points on the ensuing kickoff, when La Vega’s De_vonte Jones ran the ball out to the four yard line before retreating back into the end zone and being mauled there by a pack of Bulldogs. And After La Vega’s free kick gave Wylie the ball at its own 45, the Bulldogs marched 55 yards in 11 plays, convert_ing on a fourth and two on a brilliant one-handed catch by Rayce Burks near the side_lines and scoring on a 5-yard run from Cory Ramos.
Then, after the Bull_dogs offense and defense had gotten their chance to shine, the team’s special teams joined in. After La Vega went three and out on its next possession, Pirates punter Jose Fajardo punted the ball off his upback and Wylie recovered in the end zone for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 22- 0 first-quarter lead.
In the second quar_ter, the Bulldogs added a 58- yard touchdown run by Keith Green, a 72 yard touchdown pass from Matt Preston to Jon Miller and a 28-yard field from Austin Gray to go to halftime lead_ing 39- 0.
Wylie outgained La Vega 311-29 in the fi rst half, and had three touchdown plays of 48 yards or more.

" We had like three or four huge plays in the first half," Miller said. " That was a huge momentum swing for us. We just built everything up and got a huge lead on them and took it into the locker room."
Things changed a bit in the second half, however.
After Wylie's opening drive of the second half ended with Preston's first interception of the season, reserves played for the Bulldogs the rest of the game onoffense and defense This opened things the door for La Vega's speedy backs, who were able to find some open space in the Pirates two-tight running game.
La Vega's running back duo of Aaron Brandon and Tevin Thompson ran for 234 of their 282 yards in the second half and the Pirates scored on their f irst four secondhalf possessions.
" We got to play 60 kids tonight. We kept a lot of our starters out in the secondhalf," Sandifer said. "A lot of it didn't go well for us at times in the second half, but I think it will show some of those guys that got in there that it's maybe not as easy as it looks and they've got to keep working hard to do a good job when they get on the field."
Wylie, however, ended the game on a high note. After the Bulldogs were held scoreless on their fi rst four possessions of the second half, Ryan Pease found the end zone with 22 seconds left to put his team back up by 17.

Yes, I was there. I was expecting a slug fest but it never happened. Wylie was hitting on all cylinders.
