Region IV, Week 3 Preview
District 25

Bellville (2-0) v Navasota (3-0)
In what is one of the better match ups so far this season the Bulls try to extend their 2 game winning record to 3-0 against a very strong Navasota team. Defense is the key and that along with home field advantage gives the Brahmas a slight edge in this otherwise coin toss of a match. Bellville wins it by a td or so.

Smithville(2-1) @ Hallettsville(0-3)
The Tigers are loose! After a rout of the hapless Eagles last week they will feast on the Brahmas coming off a loss to the Columbus Cardinals.
Smithville by 2 tds.

Columbus @ Needville D26 editor

La Grange @ Gonzales D28 editor

Sealy @ Brookshire D26 editor

Giddings open

District 26

Brookshire (1-1) @ Sealy (3-0)
Brookshire is coming off a close loss to Bryan Rudder while Sealy comes into this contest undefeated. Expect size and speed to be on display in this game.
Prediction: Brookshire (D26 prognosticator is fearless!)

Columbus (3-0) @ Needville (2-1)
Columbus runs a spread attack that has accumulated 108 points in two games. QB Cordrik Carter has a good arm and really good speed. RB Chris Whitehead has played well this year. Expect Needville to try and use their own run game to cut the game in half. The Needville defense is only allowing 14 points a game.
Prediction: Needville

Houston Davis (0-3) @ Stafford (3-0)
Houston Davis is giving up over 30 a game and their offense is avg. about 10. Expect the surprising Stafford Spartans to improve to (4-0).
Prediction: Stafford

Sweeny (1-1) @ Houston Sterling (0-2)
After last week's embarrassing loss look for Sweeny look for the Bulldogs to be more focused against a Raider team that has struggled giving up 33 a game. Sterling will try to pick up their first win this season versus a Sweeny team that is giving up about 17 a game. The Sweeny defense is still in search of their identity. Will they find it in Houston's 3rd Ward.
Prediction: Sweeny

Houston Kashmere (2-0) @ West Columbia (0-2)
The Rams have 8/9 returning from last year. Experience will be a factor as will speed. West Columbia will look to QB Daymond Lewis and Soph RB Sean Flannel to bring home the Roughneck's first win. West Columbia is giving up almost 30 a game.
Prediction: Houston Kashmere

Wharton (0-2) @ El Campo (2-1)
Wharton continues their difficult non district schedule with a visit to county rival El Campo. Wharton has scored only 18 points while giving up 31 a game on defense. El Campo will look to improve to (3-1) when Wharton leaves El Campo.
Prediction: El Campo

District 27

La Vernia (2-1) vs. Canyon Lake (2-1)
Da Bears are at home and roll over an improving Canyon Lake team.
LV by 20

Luling @ Goliad…covered in D28

Marion (0-3) vs. Ingram Moore (0-3)
Someone will finally get a W and we don’t think it’s the Warriors.
Marion by 18

Poteet (2-0) @ 4A Pleasanton
We like the aggies by 9

SA Houston (2-1) vs. SA Edison.
Will the “real” hurricanes please show up? Are they the team that put up 60 in week 0, 35 in week 2, or the team that only scored 6 in week 1? We think they score 30 in this one and win by 10

Somerset (1-2) @ SA St. Anthony
OK we admit it, we know zero about St Anthony, so we’re going with Somerset by 12 and you can take that to the bank.

District 28

Cuero (3-0) @ Bay City (0-3)
Cuero has been playing great…and Bay City not so great, but the Black Cats have gone against much tougher competition. We’re throwing the records out the window and anticipating a tough environment for the young Gobblers as they will get their first real taste of adversity. We still like Cuero, but only by single digets.
Cuero by 6

Edna (2-0) vs. Brazos (2-1)
The Cowboys have taken care of business in their first two games, albeit against weak competition. Brazos appears to come in with a little more to offer than Edna’s first two opponents, but we don’t think the Cougars are in this game after half.
Edna by 14

Goliad (0-3) vs. Luling (0-3)
The Eagles are on a bad streak and unfortunately for them, Goliad is hungry for their first W. We think the Tigers have too much power for the Eagles.
Goliad by 15

Gonzales (0-3) vs. La Grange (3-0)
La Grange has the look of a team on a mission, and the Apaches have the look of a team trying to find something positive to build on. Not much positive for Gonzales this week as the Leps roar to a victory.
LG by 23

Palacios (1-2) vs. Van Vleck (0-3)
The Sharks have shown some bite this year, and this is another grudge match they’d dearly love to win…and we think they do.
Palacios by 4

Yoakum (1-2) has a bye this week.

District 29

Bandera (2-1) @ Wimberley (1-2)
Sure were a lot of expectations for both of these teams as they headed into the season. The Bulldogs are starting to jell, but what is going on with the Texans? They’re playing tough teams in La Vernia and Dripping Springs, but no points in either game? This week at home we think the Texans do get on the board, but we like the Bulldogs in a close, hard fought contest.
Bandera by 3

Carrizo Springs (1-2) @ Dilley
Dilly is a good 2A team and we think they handle the Wildcats this week.
Dilley by 10

Crystal City (1-2) vs. Cotulla
Cotulla on the other hand is a not so good 2A team and the Javelinas roll big in this one.
CC by 23

Devine (2-1) vs. CC West Oso (1-1)
The Warhorses were pummeled by Cuero last week and the Bears had the week off after getting a little pummeling of their own from Beeville in week 1. We think the warhorses will be very tough at home and we expect them to win.
Devine by 10

Pearsall (3-0) vs. SA Kennedy
We expect a close game with the Mavericks pulling away late.
Pearsall by 8

District 31

Aransas Pass - OPEN
Falfurrias - OPEN
Mathis - OPEN

CC West Oso (1-1) @ Devine (2-1) – Covered by D29

4A Rockport-Fulton (3-0) @ Ingleside (2-0) - While the Pirates have had their way with 3 other D31-3A teams, this will not be the case against the Mustangs. Ingleside by 21

Orange Grove (1-1) @ 2A Banquete (3-0) - This is an interesting match up. Banquete is 3-0 and have not allowed a point scored against them while racking up 750 rushing yards in 3 games. We'd like to give the nod to Orange Grove, but think Banquete at home might be too much for the Bulldogs. Banquete by 3

4A CC Ray (0-3) @ Robstown (1-1) - The Cottonpickers hung tough with 4A Rockport and Ray has been struggling with their 2 QB set up. Cottonpickers by 7.

Sinton (2-0) @ 2A Hebbronville (1-2) - The Pirates struggled against 4A Moody and need a lot of work, but should have no trouble with the depleted Longhorns. Pirates by 14

District 32

Looks like only one game in D32 this week.

La Feria vs. 2A Santa Rosa
The Lions roll in this one vs the Warriors.
La Feria by 13

Never put all of your eggs in one basket!!

With that said...I'd be surprised if Sealy loses to BR also! LOL.

BR always has talent, speed, size.....but for whatever the reason....can never seem to put it all together. If they ever figure it out...they'll be dangerous.

Sealy loses to Brookshire?

Brookshire squeaks by Hempstead 21-20

Sealy beats hempstead 45-6

Did I miss something?

hempstead had a terrible game against sealy. imo a hempstead/sealy rematch would be closer than last week's rice/sealy game

Look, we use the most up to date, computer guided, scientific analysis to make our predictions. You’ve got to figure in the algorithms, biorhythms, the lunar phases, as well inputting all available historical data about how teams have fared on certain dates and weeks in the last 50 years. You combine all that data, analyze it, break it down, and then add one more key ingredient, the WAG (wild a** guess) and you arrive at your result. Besides what fun would it be to go with the favorite every time?

I think Columbia beats Kashmere
Colombus beats Needville

and

Sealy beats Royal.

Also, isn't Bellville the Brahmas, not Bulls?

We know Bellville are the Brahmas but like to think of the football team as the males of the Brahma herd, thus bulls works for us.

We were trying to be clever, apparently we over shot our mark.

Great area overview.
Not a lot of respect for the district 25-3A offerings
I suspect the "crow" meal will be in order for you
Saturday morning for a few of your picks from this
pretty stacked grouping of note in one district.
do not over look Columbus, LaGrange, Giddings,
Sealy or Bellville

I think if you read the weekly reviews you'll find that RIV editor thinks D25 is among the best districts in the state, if not the best.

I've come to the conclusion that unless it's put in headlines and bold print that D25 IS THE BEST IN THE STATE NO MATTER WHAT - some (not all, I repeat NOT ALL) D25 posters don't see anything else you say. JMHO :p oh and sarcasm is missed ALOT
