I have never posted any comments on 3A Downlow ... until now.

I just wanted to compliment the pregame ceremony that was put together by Dangerfield. As our game was played on September 11th, there was obviously strong meaning to the day.

The color guard was a group of uniformed veterans representing all branches of the armed services. After they walked to midfield, the national anthem was played as a local Boy Scout group raised the flag to half staff. This was then followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of that fateful day eight years ago. The rifle carrying veterans at midfield then fired three shots into the air followed by an older gentleman (apparently a Navy veteran in his dress whites) playing taps on his bugle. It was a very moving ceremony that personally put a lot of things into perspective that night.

My compliments and thanks to the town of Dangerfield and the DISD on a job very well done.

GOD BLESS.

I agree with you on the pregame. It was moving. I was there and I am ex military. I have seen those before and they always bring tears to my eyes. Many have fallen and will fall for us and our country. God Bless them, their families, and friends.

Gary,
Enjoyed getting to see your son line up under center for the Bobcats. Sorry he had to do so at Cody's expense, but it looks to me like the Bobcats are in good hands. Tell him I look forward to this week's game.

Agree with you Gary. A very moving opening ceremony.

This isn't meant to hijack the thread, but along the same lines, if you have never seen the HBO movie "Taking Chance", I highly recommend it. Based on a true story, it's a moving portrayal of the decorum and respect given to our fallen soldiers as they are escorted home for buriel:

It is available now as a rental.
