This will be speed against speed. I look for a really great matchup in this one.

Bay City always has lots of speed, but don't think they will be able to keep up them Gobblers...and please Cuero, don't come out on field after half time till the BlackCat Band is back in the stands...think there was a fuss a few years back...:D :D :D

This has proven to be a good matchup every time! As stated there will be a lot of speed on the field for both teams. I've gotta take Cuero. Nobody has been able to slow down their offense so far this year, and until someone proves they can...I'll take the Gobblers every time!

Go mean green.

Is Bay City ranked this year?

I don't know much about Bay City this year. In years past they were State Championship caliber teams. Cuero I know is the real deal having seen them scrimmage in La Grange. I'll take Cuero by 14.

These black cats are not the 'cats of old.

Cuero will dominate.

Maybe someday Bay City will upgrade their stadium.

Dickinson shut Bay City down last night

-2 rushing yards, about 60 passing 3 first downs- 1 in the first half

BC punted six times and also faked a punt

The Gators could have put more than 24 p oints on them.

One thing about Bay City, They dont play any soft teams. All there games so far are tuff teams and can only help them against a class 3A Cuero. I look for one hell of a tuff close game just like the years past. Forget the records, Bay City hates to loose to a class 3A team.

Yea, throw the records out, BC will be tuff this week. I think it's their homecoming also. The last time we played there in BC, they won and it was their Homecoming.

This will be a playoff atmosphere game. I don't know if BC can handle Cuero's offense for four quarters. Cuero will win in a close one.

I have to agree with you. It's not going to be easy. Bay City lost to Dayton and Yates. Both teams were tough opponents. I don't think BC can slow down the Cuero offense. I'm thinking Cuero 34-20.

Sure do wish I could be there!

LET'S GO CUERO!!!

There were a lot of BC fans sitting on Cuero's side because of the amount of people there for homecoming. Those fans were making rude comments to our cheerleaders all night. I would suggest BC to bring out extra seating because Cuero's going to need all the seats they can get. If there are BC fans on the visitor side, they need to respect Cuero fans and not be so rude, after all, it is the visitor's side!!

Exactly, that was the source of the so called controversy 2 years ago. The home fans sitting on the visitors side who were complaining about Cuero fans going up and down the stands during halftime becase they wanted to watch the BC band. And yes Cuero fans went down on the field to get a victory line going bc the team was in a funk, but the halftime scoreboard was already at 00's when it got loud.
Granted, there is a big section of Cuero fans at Gobbler stadium on the visitors side but they all stay at the one end. At Bay City the home fans were mixed in and were very rude to say the least.
After the game my wife, who was bout 10 months pregnant at the time wearing a Cuero jersey, had to deal with smart remarks and attitude from the workers at HEB.
Hope the Cuero fans bring it!

That is a lot of confidence you have in your Blackcats. This will be a close game. I don't see BC blowing out Cuero at all.

Believe me, he's not from Bay City Boomer - he tries to slam Cuero every chance he gets. I look forward to his weekly "insight" ;)

I hope the Cuero fans are pumped up for this one. If I remember correctly, Spencer had to sit down because there were BC fans sitting behind him and they couldn't see the game. He was very mad!! A police officer told him if he didn't sit down, they would escort him out the stadium. Now that's crazy! If your going to sit on the opposing team's section, you are going to have to put up with their fans, including Mr. Gobbler himself. Spencer stands at every game cheering on the Gobblers. You will here him yell "Go Mean Green" after every touchdown we score this Friday.

I know this happened 2 years ago. But it's hard to forget how rude they were. I hope BC puts out extra bleachers for their fans to sit on.

Bay City plays Cuero tough and its gonna be a good game. Bay City has the speed and athleticism to match Cuero's. The Cuero offense will score points but the defense will have to shut down Bay City. If I remember correctly they run a spread offense. Cuero defenders have not done well stopping that type of offense. My gut feels Bay City will win but I have to go with Cuero because I can't go against my school. Cuero 31 - 28

Side note: Bay City is a horrible place to play but the competition is good for Cuero. The BC fans are not hospitable at all, parking is horrible and the stadium is run down. Oh and speaking of stadiums, the new concession stand and scoreboard for Cuero look good. I kept turning my head in the direction of the originally scoreboard all night. Only thing Cuero needs it to update the stands and extend the home side. I was speaking to my mom and she recalled when the Cuero stadium was put there back in her junior year in high school and she is 59 now. Yoakum added a nice home side to their stadium when will Cuero?

I say Cuero 28 Bay City 14.... Bay City is not the same team from the past. They will play the Gobblers hard though.

Persons attending this game may want to get in BC early

Homcoming activities start at 7 p.m. so parking will be at a premium and space is limiited

For those unfamilar with Memorial Stadium. Visitors sit on press box side.

Not many stadiums use this format

Plenty of places to eat in town before the game. Quizno's, Golden Corral, Two barbecue places, K2 Steak House, Wing Street Pizza Hut, 4 mexican restaurants, Subway, McDonald's Jack in the Box all on Hwy 35 also a chineese place in Walmart area.
There are several choices

No BC runs a wing-t now and it is horrible and it doenst utilize their speed and potential of their skill position players. Cuero will ein this one b/c Bay City rufuses to fix wut the problem is and until they do Bay City will not score points.

Cuero 28 Bay City 6

I don't see the preview article. Is it in the sports section?

Bay City is still trying to rebuild from the Alan Cherry years. They only have like 26 kids on varsity this year. Maybe a little speed, but they are overall not very good. This should not be a close game. I see Cuero winning it by 20 or so.

I think that the talent is still there honestly....but its not coming out for some reason. Alan Cherry drove the program into the ground from a powerhouse to mediocracy. Then Edleman comes in and establishes a spread offense that utulized the skill positions that Bay City always had "Shaun Rutherford". They weren't a great team in his only year there, but they were competitive in 2007 except the Lamar game. Edleman got some exposure and left. Bay City was stuck in a whole and wanted to keep their new hire in house for good reason. Blackmon was suppose to bring the kids back out and establish a great athletic program. He hasn't done either, they lack the numbers on the football team and they aren't very competitive in any other sports.

Now I still think that Blackmon can turn this around, if they utilized the speed and the talent they have at the skill positions. The QB Brown is going to be an excellent, he is young, strong arm fast Like a young Shaun Rutherford. But he is not being utilized properly IMO. Yall know im trying to be politically correct and not say the wrong thing or blame one person. But the Wing-t just isn't cutting when BC plays top notch talent and coaching like they have thus far this season.

For example: I watched the game against Dayton. Dayton was not faster then BC Trust me. BC has a very small O-line and they cannot drive you off the ball. They get down early b/c the lack of diversity in the offense "pitch left, pitch right, pitch up the middle then punt". When BC gets into a Spread they can move the ball up and down the field "the last drive before halftime against Dayton score in 4 plays". But they don't stick with it.

Cuero fans will see the potiental that BC has especially at the skill positions.

Game should be over by 10

Every game Bay City played it has rained or lightning or both

Hopefully a dry night at Memorial Stadium.

This one could be decided at halftime-Cats havent scored since 4th quarter against Houston Yates

I seed them going to the outside more and passing. Inside running game has failed

They had three first downs and -2 yard rushing last wek against Dickinson- Punted 7 times

The web page is updated now. There is peace is the sports section. The guy who wrote it has no clue what happen in Cuero this summer. You will see why when you read it. He must have just copied all his info from Dave Campbell's peace on the Gobblers, that came out before what happen this summer.
