Navasota cracked the top 10 this week. Bellville is #7 while Giddings moved up to # 4. This means when Bellville/Navasota play on Sept. 18th it will be a battle of two top ten teams at the pasture. Should be a great game. KBTX in Bryan had a little clip about this. Bellville will be the place to be on the 18th....

It's Caldwell's open week, we'll be there. In a quandry though of who to be for. We have good friends in Navasota. Both families support each other when we're not playing each other and travel to each other's games whenever possible. On the other hand, we have family in Bellville. Navasota is a district foe and Bellville is a past district foe and current pre-district gauntlet run for us.

No matter what it will be a great game. It's nice to be excited about a game where I'm not a football mom of one of the players involved. The football moms know what I mean. ;)

The harris rating system has 3a rankings as follows

1. Gilmer-223
2. Carhage-220
3.West-Orange Stark-219
4. Abilene While- 218
5. Cuero- 217
6. Giddings- 216
7. Brownwood- 215
8. Navasota- 214
9. Prosper- 213
10. Graham- 212
11. Bellville- 212
18. Sealy- 208
24. La Grange- 206
72- Columbus- 192
97- Smithville- 186

Bellville is not in the top 10 in this poll. I thought they were to start the season, but after going 2-0, they dropped. I still don't believe in polls this early in the season, but these are interesting. Brownwood, # 7--:stirpot:

The Massey Ratings are not really a poll per say. They are power ratings. They combine recent success as a starting point, offensive production, strength of competition, and how many points your defense allows. In this case, Bellville and Navasota both fell out in the quarterfinals last year. Bellville has scored 56 points thus far to Navasota's 75, and Bellville has allowed 39 points thus far to Navasota's 20. They have both each played an average 4A and a good 3A. If Bellville beats Navasota, they will get a sizable jump in the power ratings. Let's hope that does not happen though!;)

Edit: in addition to this, I think had Henderson not played Carthage such a close game last week, Navasota might be a lower rating.
