UIL State Executive Committee Meeting Results

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— Decisions were handed down by the State Executive Committee on Wednesday regarding the eligibility of student athletes.

Student athletes from Lago Vista High School, Whitehouse High School and Fort Worth Dunbar High School had their appeals to regain varsity eligibility denied by the State Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the students changed schools for athletic purposes.

Student athletes from Jarrell High School and Little Elm High School were granted varsity eligibility after the committee ruled that the students did not change schools for athletic purposes.

Damn, I can't imagine anyone moving to Burnet purely for athletic purposes..................usually that's happens where more consistantly winning programs are entrenched.

The UIL declared a Jarrell football player eligible for his senior season on Wednesday, overturning a previous ruling by the District 25-2A executive committee.

The district had ruled that Kyle Williams had transfered to Jarrell for athletic purposes. Williams was originally from Jarrell but moved to Florence for a few months last year before moving back to Jarrell.

Also on Wednesday, the UIL upheld District 25-2A’s ineligibility ruling on a Lago Vista senior. The player, who was a part-time starter on the Round Rock football team last year before he was removed from the athletic program this summer, was ruled to have moved for athletic reasons although his father lives in Lago Vista.

Both players were initially ruled ineligible before the season started.

The UIL was also scheduled to hear an appeal from an unnamed Burnet athlete on Wednesday. However, the appeal was dropped before the meeting started.

I think there have been more moving out of Burnet for athletic purposes the last 3 or 4 years, than moving in.
