View Full Version : Region IV GOTW: Cuero (2-0) vs. Devine (2-0)

Our week 2 match-up features region 4 powerhouse Cuero vs. Devine.

Both of these teams have rolled through their first two games with little trouble. Cuero is a heavy favorite, but we think Devine comes into the Gobblers home opener with something to prove. Both of our previous GOTWs have been close, hard fought contests, and even though we know most will favor Cuero by 20+, we think Devine can hang around for awhile.

Devine will keep it close early, but Cuero will pull away as Devine runs out of gas in the 2nd half.

I'd be real surprized if Divine can hang with Cuero.

The Warhorses are good. :nerd:
If they can slow down the Gobbs, they will keep this game close.:)

What kind of team does Devine have this year? Any standouts on their team? I just haven't heard much about them.

Gobblers have only lost 1 game at home in the Reeve era, and that was the first game of the season in his first year at Cuero. Gobblers are tuff to beat at home. Being this is their home opener and everything that has gone on the past six weeks, there will be a lot of emotion in this game.

I cant find where Cuero ever played Devine up until now.
Cuero has home field advantage....
Cuero has too much speed for Devine
Cuero by 21+

Gobblers are playing quite well right now...don't see them getting drug down by the war horses...2nd half, Gobblers put this one away and rout the horses by 24...

it could be more...

Devine has 10 back on "D"
If That "D" can play against speed than they could keep this close.
This will be there first test were they will see the ball all over the field. They will need to be able to cover lots of WR's with speed. As well as try and control a solid RB that can break it on any play.
And they will get there first look at Tyler Arndt.

Those 10 could not stop RH last year (granted RH could not stop Devine either. Their offense was huge, even compared to Cuero lol).

They will not stop Cuero this year.

Cuero by 28.

Gobbler win by as much as they want. If they let Arndt air it out 25+ times then they can put 50+ on the board. I am not sure anyone can stop the Gobblers until the playoffs if they use the entire field. Passing game will lead to big runs by Jackson.

I am more interested in seeing if the Cuero Defense can step up and throw a zero on the scoreboard. I would like to see lights out defense and hard hitting for 4 quarters.

I posted this on the other thread...:nerd:

You have to consider those stats were put up against Pleasanton which is a relatively weak 4a team and Comfort which is normally a fairly strong 2a, not sure how strong they are this year.

IMO Cuero rolls by 35+

Cuero is a solid football team and might be as good as any they have had. It will take a better team than Devine to beat them. Cuero by a bunch. No one will stop their running attack.
