Ok, maybe that sounded a little cocky, but I don't think Navasota has a chance of losing this game unless every starter turns an ankle this week in practice. However, Hearne has been playing well, with a 3 point win over 1A contender Bremond and a come from behind win over New Waverly, also a 2A contender. Hearne always has good athletes, as evidenced by the number of collegiate athletes from the 'ole crossroads town. Discipline and consistency are usually the missing piece when Hearne is down.
Navasota is coming off an exciting come from behind win in Palestine against a fast, hard hitting Wildcat team. They blew out a young Henderson Lion team missing key players in Week 0. Both teams have a lot to prove if they want people to believe they are district title material in their respective divisions.

My assessment, Hearne plays hard, bust a few good long plays, but this week, Navasota is awake. Palestine brought the smack, but didn't talk it. Hearne will talk the smack, but Navasota will bring it. Navasota rolls 49-7.

I'd be careful with the outrageous predictions there were some
similar last week ( on another board )and the heavy favorite won by 1. Hearn by the way is very athletic and fast they have a tailback that can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.
They also have only 6 Sr's & only 2 of them start . If you let them hang around they are the type of team that will beat you. Our kids read the comments too so be kind with the predictions :)

You are right, when I heard the score of that game, I thought the broadcaster might have been dyslexic. Well, if any Rattlers are reading this board, I hope you guys see what happens to your level of play when you start getting fired up. Don't sit there and wait for a big play or the need of a big play to get you fired up. For the last three years I have said that every time I start to see the Rattler D shake their heads, high five, hop around, and let out a few man yells, the opposing offense has no chance. Coaches and team leaders have hopefully taken notice of this too. All it takes a little fire, and the Rattlers become monsters out there.

Well, the game is played on the field and I do wish both teams the best. Hearne without a doubt will challenge the Rattlers because they have the athletes to compete. If the Rattlers come out and play like they did in week 0 and in the 4th Q versus Palestine, this should be a definite win for the snakes. I just hope that they are not overlooking the Eagles. Guys, take care of Hearne and then worry about Bellville.

The Rattlers have the tools to win the game and darn well should. The big issue will be which team decides to play Friday. If the team that played in the fourth quarter against Palestine shows, or the team from week 0, the Rattlers can make life miserable for the eagles. If the team that played the first three quarters against Palestine is at Hearne, the Eagles might surprise Texas Football. The Rattlers need to go out and play a full game on both sides of the ball and not let the fact that Hearne is a 2A even be a thought. Hearne has the speed and ability to embarass the Rattlers if they don't play hard.

I'd be careful also, Hearne beat a very talented New Waverly team 34-20. Rattler: represent D-24 well, and be ready.

Hearne always gets pumped for games against teams they are expected to get stomped by.

Caldwell outscored New Wavery 3-1 in scrimmage and that says a lot about the Bulldogs' defense. Hearne outscored them by 2 TDs as well even though, of couse, it reflected less game action.

Beating Bremond's corn-fed boys is no easy task, no matter what your classification, and New Waverly has loads of untapped talent.

Overlook them and you might get shell-shocked.

They surprised Caldwell a few years ago 18-12 in a game they were expected to lose by 3 TDs.

And the game's in Hearne? Uh.. oh....

You are right. The last time the Rattlers played in Hearne, we barely got of there with a win.

Same situation applied in that one as well. Navasota seemed lost in the game for three quarters, but in that fourth, with Hearne trying to drive and potentially tie the game, the crowd came alive, fired up the defense, and Hearne could do no more. I am looking for that crowd support and no-quit, no-rest defense again that we saw that night, and in game one against Henderson. The same tangibles that appeared in the fourth quarter of the Palestine game.

Forget getting out of there with a win. When they were in our district, we were lucky to get out of there with our lives lol. I remember little kids standing on the side of the road throwing rocks at the bus everytime we would have to go there and play them. Can you say police escort lol.
