La Grange 26 Yoakum 0. The Leps opened with 3 and out on the first drive then the Bulls marched down to the 4. The Leopards defense stiffened and forced a fumble to stop the opening Bulldog drive. After that the Leps defense never let up holding the Bulldogs to very few yards. Meanwhile the Leopard running game showed up with Wilson and Daniels both having very big nights. The passing game remained outstanding and the Leps had close to 500 total yards offense. The Bulldogs had plenty of fight in them stopping the Leps twice inside the 7 yard line with goal line stands. The Leps had only one turnover, a fumble on a qb scramble. They only had three penalties and again played more like a playoff level team rather than an early season one. Go Leps and beat Needville!:)

Oh, I failed to mention that our O line was really outstanding last night. That said it is noted that two starters are still out with injuries. Good work guys.

LG defense really stepped it up last night. Yoakum took there opening drive down to LG's 7 yard line and then fumbled, after that the defense held Yoakum in check pretty well all night. If Yoakum can hang on to the ball and quit making those little mistake that kill you, they will be a very competitive team. They also have a lot of guys that go both ways. Late in the 3rd quarter they were already showing signs of wearing down. Keep going LG, you guys have one heck of a District and once Districts starts it will be who is ready for who.

Yes that was a real momentum boost for the Leps. I particularly liked the way the Lep defense stiffened when the Bulldogs were at midfield fourth and one. The left side of the Lep D crushed the Bulldog line and tackled the Yoakum rb for a yard loss. That showed great heart and excellent defensive reads. This could be as good a defense as the 2001 Leps. We will see once district starts.

BTW who was that Lep right tackle last night? He must have been giving up 75 pounds to the big Bulldog DE yet he kept him penned up the entire game. Great footwork and technique makes up for a lot of size. Great work!

He was the center until the injury bug hit the line. They moved him to right tackle and he has improved so much since the coaches made that move. Yoakum is very big and the o-line did a good job all night.

Yes they did. I was impressed with how much protection Schneider had. Hope the injured players get back healthy for district. This team has depth which helps.

The Leps need to work on their PAT game. They didn't protect the kicker much last night. The kicker was rushed and missed 2 of 4 attempts. He is a decent kicker, this is a problem with the line picking up the blocks. Hope the films help work it out. PATs are a big part of championships.

I don't want to take anything away from the La Grange defense, but on the 1st and goal at the Leps 5 yd line, no one touched the runner, he just lost the handle. LG never stopped the Dogs on that drive, they stopped themselves. When Yoakum ran straight at LG, they had trouble stopping the run. It is really hard to have much offense when you get around 35 plays in a game. That would be more to the effectiveness of LG's offense than that of their defense. Snapping the ball over the qb's head is not because of great defensive play, but more on the offensive making errors. On that 1st drive, LG never came close to stopping the dogs running game. 4 turnovers had more to do with the dogs ineffective offense than LG's defense. When the leps play a team that is more balanced and not as error prone, then one can make a better evaluation of the LG defense. Having said that, there is no mistake in saying they have a great passing game which can only get greater.

Yeah whatever. Maybe you were down at the concession stand when the Lep defense stuffed your star rb for a 2 yard loss on fourth and one midfield? Maybe you missed the plays where your rbs couldn't turn the corner due to the swarm of purple uniforms on them. The Bulldogs did not run all over the Lep D. They had the one good drive on their opening series that was it for the rest of the night. The high snaps were due to the pressure the D line put on the center. The Lep O line dominated the Bulldogs too. Don't try to make excuses for your teams loss. They were outplayed in every way except for your punter who had the opportunity to display his skills on multiple occasions.

Good luck to the Bulldogs. They are a young team but have talent and good coaches so they will be right up there in the playoff picture come November. Go Leps!

Yoakum is good, but in this game they had HALF of their total yards on that first drive. After that, the Lep D buckled down and got after it. The same team that scored 29 vs. Columbus was shut out by a hungry, hustling, and determined Leopard defense.

Lagrange was just like i expected. A great passing game and lots of quickness and hustle on both sides of ball. Yoakum is still trying to adapt to their new coaches system and he will have to decide what type of offense to run with this group. First half they ran double slot formation and second half the spread. They have got to have better execution with one offense even it it means cuting back on the playbook. The kids have seen 3 different systems in 4 years so they need to simplify things and try to do a few things good.
