I don't...but I have a feeling D-bo wins easily...we pass the ball sometimes now...we never did that before.

Blanton hands down. Like crazyjournalist said, Forney has a passing game now. When Blanton was their all they did was run. Teams knew what Forney was going to do coming into the game, they knew that they were going to run Blanton. Even though they knew what was coming and knew Blanton was going to get the ball, they couldnt stop him. I think Laury is a more patient runner than Blanton was. Laury will wait for his blockers to open him a hole and then he will hit it. Blanton didnt need a lot of blocking, he had blazing speed.

Did a little searching and came up with this...

Blanton 2000: 228 carries, 1918 yds. (8.4 avg.), 29 TDs.
Blanton 2001: 200 carries, 2355 yds. (11.8 avg.), 33 TDs.
Blanton career: 6265 yds., 94 TDs. Had to have been between 629 and 636 carries, because his avg. was 9.9 yds. per carry.

Laury 2002: 1763 yds. (No info on carries or TDs.)
Laury 2003 (as of now): 197 carries, 2068 yds. (10.5 avg.), 34 TDs.

Blanton played 12 games in 2001 and Laury has played 12 games so far this year, so Laury is not far off Blanton's pace in yards and is ahead of it in TDs.

closer than i would have guessed also...laury didnt get a ny carries...or not many his sophomore year cause Blanton was a senior.

I think!

Laury is a good runner. I think he is more of a true runningback than Blanton was. I think Laury can be a college running back somewhere.....maybe....blanton just wasnt built like a running back

One of the articles my search turned up said that Laury spent his sophomore season recovering from a scoped right knee. Even if he had been healthy, he wouldn't have had the kind of freshman and sophomore numbers that Blanton did, because he'd have played backup to Blanton, but he sure has come on strong in his Junior and Senior years.

Man, those stats are very similar and they both only played a half most of their high school career. I would be happy with either one in my backfield. Both have great vision to hit the holes but Blanton has more speed and protected the ball better. I sure hope we have another back to follow Laury like he followed Blanton.

Blanton has a younger brother in the Forney Youth leagues; however, he is only a 4th grader.
