I must start by saying that after that first easy-breezy 4 play TD drive to open the game, Palestine kicked our butts for three and a half quarters. I know our guys, and I can tell when they are flat, which they were, but I can't take anything away from Palestine. They wanted to win, and their lines were manhandling ours. It took a momentum swing from Kye Hildreth returning the kickoff for a TD to get the Rattlers fired up to beat the Wildcats. Hopefully, this is a wake up call to them to never let off the gas again. As for Palestine, I see them doing good things in their district. I think they are a playoff quality team this year, and are not 4th place material. Their defense is big and physical, and their offensive speed in the backfield is their strength. Olin Terry and Terrence Simon are both excellent runners. Terry is one of those QBs like Silsbee's Jeremy Johnson that just can't be sacked, no matter what you do.

Synopsis of the game:
Navasota receives and has a big pass and a big run down to the red zone, and two plays later Kye Hildreth finds Aaron Collins open in the back of the endzone. XP good.
Palestine drives down and gets a 15 yard TD burst. XP good. It would stay that way until the third quarter, with Palestine pretty much whipping up the Rattler lines, but not finishing drives.
In the third, Palestine has a third and 10, the Rattler D gets fired up, but forgets to cover #8, who catches a wide open pass on a fly route for a TD. XP good. 14-13 Palestine.
Navasota still stymied by Palestine's 9 man front. Palestine gets the ball back and methodically drives down, getting a 5 yard TD run. XP no good, 20-13 Palestine.
Kye Hildreth moves over to catch the obvious pooch kick, making the Wildcats pay with a 70 yard TD return across the field and up the sideline. Timeout, go for two, and Kye Hildreth keeps on a weak side option for a 21-20 Rattler lead.
Navasota stiffens up and forces a punt. Several plays later, Kesnick Jones bursts up the middle for a Rattler TD, XP good, 28-20 Rattlers.
On 4th and 5, Olin Terry's pass in the face of 4 oncoming defenders is intercepted by Collins, who wisely slides down. A kneel and it is a good ballgame.

Great game and great team from Navasota. I really thought we had this game won. The Kickoff return killed us. But I'm proud of the way we played.

I gotta tell ya, I would much rather have games like this every week than win 47-0. You have to have something to get off your butt about, those bleachers can leave a mark.
