That game was played by kids playing as if they had been chewed on every minute since last Friday! Excellent execution on both sides of the ball tonight!

This is the Gilmer team I expected to see last week! And I know, I know, it's Rains. But our execution, effort, and (most importantly) Stump's accuracy, were light years better than last week!

Good Job Buckeyes!! Get ready for the Leopards next week!

Complete first teams stopped playing with about 5 min left in the first half. Some starters played here and there after that, but the backups did a great job.

Stump's numbers may not be truly indicative of the score. We had a punt return, a kickoff return, an interception return, and a fumble return for touchdowns. Stump ended up with 5 TD passes I believe. He had a very good game tonight!

Ok take is easy we scored 35 points on run backs and turnover's!!! The Offense has to play and run plays. When you take out your starters before the half, that is calling off the dogs and if the back ups put the points so be it.

The Buckeyes still have a whole lot of work to do. The next three weeks will say a lot about this team. Playing Liberty-Eylau in their house, then Kilgore and Daingerfield at home will definitely test the character of this team. All three of these teams are capable of beating us.

Spoken like a guy who has been on the short end of the score more than once. Truth is, if a coach pulls his starters out after the team is up 20 or 25 or 30 or whatever, they do not get enough reps to stay sharp in some cases. This game was one of those. Gilmer scored every way you can except a safety and a blocked kick for a score. Subs were involved in every play after the 1st quarter. Maybe even if Gilmer had started the nth string they would have won. But tell me Coach Catgut, how would giving your starters only three series help your team once you got into the playoffs?

Coach Traylor likes to win but he's not the type to humiliate (sp)

If you seriously think a game like this is going to help once you get in the playoffs you need help. If you want to play some teams to get ready for the playoffs get some of Longview, Texas High, Sulphur Springs...there's plenty of good teams to play. And I know you're going to come back with you never know what a team will have two years from now but everyone knows Rains won't be in the class of those teams.

Great game Gilmer. For those that believe this was a case of the Buckeyes running up the score for rankings or whatever, they scored like 28 points on kick returns and fumble returns in the first half and those things are not in the control of the coach, unles he tells the guys to lay down when they have the ball. The Buckeyes played alot of the bench early in the game and still dominated. The tried to lessen the second half scoring by asking that the clock be allowed to run, but the Rains staff said no.

I guarantee the score could have been much worse if the Buckeyes had stuck with starters and continue d with th full offense. This was a controlled whipping and except for suiting up the cheerleaders and band for the second half, I don't se much the Gilmer staff could have done to change the outcome.

You can't ask kids that don't get to play (Gilmer back ups) to NOT play simply because the other team isn't quite at their level! GMAB....this isn't quilting...it's FOOTBALL!

Keeping their heads and spirit up is important. To any team. I hope they realized they were playing way out of their abilities and did not take it on themselves in a negative way.

We have a huge game tonight. It is against a 2a team but a really good one plus our long time rival. I don't think I have ever experienced such "want to" between two teams.

They are probably closer to our number of students than some of our didtrict opponents. We love to play each other. Our kids only live 2 to 5 miles apart and a lot of them go to church and play summer baseball together. They are ready to get it on.

We are 20 to 20 in past games played. I think Spring Hill has won the past 5 years...last year buy 1 point. White Oak is laying in wait for us. Hopefully we will bring home the win again. They have a good little runnin back that may rip it up. Be a good test for our D.

Good luck to both teams but I hope My Panthers pull it out and we have no injuries on either side. We can't aford another on like last week, WISH US GOOD LUCK

So back in the '04 Gilmer vs Paris game, what would have been a better course of action for us? We started running the ball almost exclusively halfway through the 3rd quarter, and yall still couldn't stop it! So what should we have done in that scenario? Take knees until yall score again or punt on first down?

I really doubt Rains is going to schedule Gilmer again having lost last year and this year by a combined 153-33. Playing better teams makes you better, usually, but sometimes playing a team way out of your class only hurts you.
