If the Rattlers play as well as they did in week 0, watchout.

Rattlers by atleast 2 touchdowns.

Go Snakes!

The game will be at Palestine.

The Rattler offense is much more diversified with multiple threats as runners and receivers that last year. They may not be a flashy, but they are all effective. The QB is very smart and effective and can make you pay on any option you don't cover completely.

On defense, the Rattlers are very athletic and fast and tackle better than any Rattler team I've seen since the mid 1990's. You won't beat them on the corners. You might have some luck running straight ahead in some cases and with some quick route passing, but the after catch yards will not count for much.

I pick the Rattlers by 14.

Navasota should be a top five team. I don't know who picked them so low, but they will finish very high. They could very well be the Region III big school champ and maybe even state champ. They may be as good as Carthage, Gilmer, and WOS in region III.

Navasota should win this game. Not 47-0 though. Palestine had an outstanding defensive effort vs. Rusk, holding them to 7 points. Olin Terry and E.J. Spurlock are back for them this year, and those two were two of their best players on offense last year. Terry rushed for over 200 and threw for about 175 against Rusk. He will have his work cut out for him. I think if Palestine wants to win this game at home, they will have to exploit the air. Navasota's DBs are still rather untested, since Henderson's receivers dropped several catchable balls. Trying to stick to a running game against this year's Rattlers would be a mistake. Defensively, Palestine is much more capable of stopping Navasota than Henderson was. They should have the athletes to match up better with the Rattler receivers, and the quickness to keep Kye Hildreth from breaking any long runs.
That is what I see on paper, and what I expect from my personal memory of the athleticism of Palestine.
What I predict is a more defensive type game, but with the Rattlers really turning it up a notch.

Rattlers 28, Wildcats 14.

35-14 Navasota. Is Palestine still running the same defense as last year?

Definitely hope I can make this one. I have to work Friday morning in Center, drive a truck to Longview, then ride back to Bryan. If it is too late on the way back, I am going to try and get dropped off in Palestine. I guess we'll see. I sure would like to see another solid defensive effort from Navasota.

Just to comment on the pic above---

77 is an offside lineman. 17 is the offside reveiver, the blocker on #80 is an offside lineman, and #15 leading the runner is the fullback. This picture is 9 yards downfield from the line of scrimmage.
