Comcast Corp. has created two new program options for Houston-area sports fans.

The Philadelphia communications company will begin televising Thursday night high school football games on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The first game will be Travis High School vs. Morton Ranch High School.

The games, produced by Texas Mobile Broadcasting, will be available to digital cable customers on Channel 129.

Comcast will broadcast one game a week for 10 weeks until Nov. 5. Schools included are in the Houston, Katy and Clear Creek independent school districts.

Comcast also plans to offer customers the “NFL RedZone” channel this season as part of its sports entertainment package on Channel 130.

The NFL RedZone channel, produced by the NFL Network, will air Sundays at 12 noon, and offer sports fans live look-ins and real-time highlights for every NFL game that afternoon.

Throughout the NFL football season, the channel will move from game to game providing live action each time a team is poised to score inside the 20-yard line. The channel will also have in-studio coverage to provide real-time scoring and fantasy updates to fans
