Counselors in Bridgeport after deadly collapse
BRIDGEPORT, Texas (AP) -- Counselors were available at Bridgeport High School after one student died and another was injured in an awning collapse.
Superintendent Eddie Bland, who says counselors were available for students and staff, addressed a school assembly Wednesday morning.
The accident happened Tuesday afternoon when a concrete-and-aluminum awning fell on two teens who were jogging on a sidewalk outside the Club Barbells Gym.
Bridgeport spokeswoman Amber Fogelman said the cause of the collapse was under investigation. Fogelman says Leslie Denison was dead at the scene.
Fellow senior Rebekah Logan suffered facial lacerations and was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Hospital spokesman Mark Draper said Logan was discharged early Wednesday.
Bridgeport is about 45 miles northwest of Fort Worth
