Should be a good match up of Region I teams.

Lions won last year and with a new coach and renewed focus on the defense, it 'smells' like another Lion win.

Brownwood will win this one! They have a lot to prove this year. They have a great coach and I just do not see a repeat of last year. One exception, they will lose when they play Wylie!:)

Brownwood posters, obviously Shipley is/was amazing at WR. After losing him, will it slow down the offense considerably? Kinda like Vacarro did the defense last year?

Loosing Shipley will set us back, but not enough to make a difference in the final out come of this game. We have other WR's on which we can rely. :D

Shipley is definitely a tremendous talent and of course he will be missed on the playing field. Will it slow down the offense? It might slow us down a little but we have a great group of kids this year and the coaching staff will make the appropriate adjustments. Brownwood will be fine in this game and future ones. I do not think losing him for a few games can be considered in the same boat as Vacarro last year. Different circumstances with different players. With Vacarro leaving we were left with no choice but to move players positions around. This year we have the ability to fill the spot with talented players and keep the ship afloat while he heals.

Actually, no reputable publication even has Bwood ranked. The homer votes on the downlow are the only reason you guys have a spot chief. ;)

Brownwood doesn't deserve a rank. Hopefully, that will all take care of itself in the end. The only rank that really matters is the #1 in Week 15 or 16.

My point is, why worry if Brownwood is ranked or not. If some publications have the Lions ranked, it's okay. Let it go. I guess you keep a list of which publications are "reputable" and which ones are not?

Strange thing is, the only place Brownwood is ranked is on a message board top 25 that its members vote on. I am also certain that Brownwood has plenty of members that probably didnt vote for their own team. Sorry you cant see my logic. :rolleyes:

I agree with most of what you said Rockdale80. I can see them taking into consideration what the team has done at least the past two seasons (and the returning players from those teams).

I think most of the polls take into consideration that Brownwood has recently dropped from 4A and should compete in 3A. They may also be looking at the new coach and the success he's had.

I guess if they just went by what the Lions did last year, they would be ranked about 40-45 in the state.

I never said I thought the Lions should be ranked very high in 2009. I just don't have a problem if people in the know think differently. I hope the Lions prove the doubters wrong. Like I said before, I know it must be proved on the field. I will be going back to Brownwood tomorrow to see what happens. ;)
