How big a die-hard fan are you, especially given fuel prices?

I'm guessing it would depend on if they were a winning team and how far in (the season) they were for most and if one has a kid playing for others. Me...I would have to do some thinking 'bout that.

Been to Louisiana Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Sweetwater. Missed roadie to Miss. Had to work. The question is not how far I will go but how far the team will go

Of course with my boys playing, it really doesn't matter where we play...I'll be there.

mwynn and i have been know to drive 200+ for games against 2 teams we don't really care about, but seems like a good game to watch. i know a few other on here are like that as well, ive seen pirate4state and g² at random games. even went to alabama with some people on here to watch a high school football game. i think i got it from my dad....he's always been a follower of the game, way before both my brother and I put on the pads and still is watching as intently today. read this piece earlier this week and got me missing home, rarely happens.

That's what I was talking about. Kids go Mom and Dad will follow. I always did. I did't matter where. In their years of high school and college I only remember missing one HS game. Did miss some college due to having to work and her Conference went way north...so that I would have missed 2 to 3 or more days work. Since I was the only one providing the$$$$$$ during those days I had to work.

I've done day trips from Corpus to Dallas and used to average 40k-45k miles a year on my cars, so covering some road isn't a big deal to me as long as I've got the time and the game is worth my time.

Fuel prices would pay no part in the decision. The question is can I get away early enough to make the game. If I can, then I'm always there.

Farthest I've been is Austin. (5 hours from Jasper) That was to watch Jasper in the State Baseball Tournament in 2007. The night of the State Game (we won) we got back home at 3 in the morning.

I know gas is high, but you can't replace memories like LHPM said. My baby is a Senior this year and I have been following him since he was in elementary. I've only missed one game in that whole time. Last year we went to games during the playoffs where we didn't even know anyone. Just thought it would be a good game to watch. If you love the sport you find a way and high school is the best to watch. Especially in 3A.
